Going to be honest, when i got started, I bought a $6 made-in-Mexico Collins hatchet from Ace Hardware and a Norton combo stone. I put a better edge on it than it came with, and it cut like a laser.

I bought a $5 Ozark Trail folding knife from Walmart, and after a quick sharpening I'm surprised with its quality. I'm tempted to try the $30 machete/hatchet/2-knife set they sell.

@@cb3391 When I was a kid, my father got me a pistol belt, WWII stainless canteen and cup with the canvas pouch, a USGI mess kit with utensils and Army blanket. Started Cub Scouts with that stuff and still have it and use it today, almost 40 years later.

Should I just use India stone with oil to sharpen axe?

I grabbed a marbles camp axe (ma701sb) and love it. $23 shipped off Smokey mountain knife works recently. Almost 16 inches over all, hickory handle, and 1045 high carbon steel. For anyone else looking for another good budget option. Doesn’t feel budget in hand at all.

That hatched is designed for use with softwood, change the edge if you want to chop hardwood with it Its a carver not a utility ax.

I was thinking between bsh3 and bsh4 and I bought a bsh4 and after watching your video, I regret it a little bit. 3 looks better. The point I was thinking about was that the blade thickness of 3 was a little thin.

Even with the current price increase......across the board....I still think condor is a underrated brand that makes just absolutely amazing products that will absolutely last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance....I purchased the Greenland hatchet and a few bushcraft knives from condor a few years ago... and I've just absolutely fallen in love with using carrying and having them in my collection!!!!!!

Nice looking hatchet and knife thank ya for posting on them. If you put a lanyard on that hatchet to use, it would work better seeing how you would be able to grasp it a little lower giving you more power in your swing.

If you really like the hatchet, but it, find a handle you like with the top slightly bigger than the eye, and replace the handle it comes with. It's not difficult, and it's a skill you need if you're going to use axes for a long time.

@@lelandgaunt3567 Took the handle off my dad's old Craftsman hatchet, that was loose, and replaced the wooden wedge, and added a metal wedge. Will see if it stays tight?

@Peter Freidel of it doesn't work, you can just bring the bread to the hardware store and find s handle you like and be sure the shack on the handle is the right size or larger for the hatchet head. New hafts are cheap and came with the wedges.

The hamdle on these hatchets is a big miss imho. No knob in the end, hard to hold onto while chopping. Really tiresome to use. The knife on the other hand looks a real performer.

Ukrainian junk? You must be a Russian spy working at the troll farm. I think my bps adventure is a garberg killer. Yeah it’s not a Randall or some Gucci kit but it’s something I don’t mind beating the crap out of and don’t hesitate to grab when I head out the door.
