I like Regal!

Planning on painting simply white over dark gray of textured walls. Which would you recommend? Aura or regal? Also would you recommend eggshell or Ulti Matte for the textured walls, bedroom tends to get dark.

Keep up the good work. Could you please review water-based paints that accept stains that are waterbased or not ? I mean Paints for base coats to transform say metal or drywall into a wood faux finish. ILL be working on a garage door that takes a beating from the sun almost all day ? If there's time also looking at the best stains for this type of job would be appreciated as well.

Yes! As a matter of fact, darker colours will tend to have a bit more sheen due to all of the colorant used. So your matte accent wall will be a tad closer to the eggshell finish on your white walls. As for the exterior product, I think you'll find grand entrance to be a joy to use, no matter how how newbie you deem yourself! 😊 It's drying time is much more forgiving than Aura interior!

We always recommend to sand down a glossy surface, however if you absolutely need to avoid sanding, I would recommend using Stix bonding primer by Benjamin Moore.

I went to a Benjamin Moore store to pick up samples (I’m in the process of picking a color for my contractor). The salesman told me all of their eggshell paints have the same durability and wash ability. I explained to him these were offices and a bedroom and I needed to be able to clean occasionally scuffs, etc. Is the contractor grade in eggshell durable enough or do you recommend upgrading to regal?

I had a contractor use the contractor grade paint to paint the interior of my home in Revere Pewter. The color changed and became muddy looking over time. I went and purchased Natura to do some touch up and it looked completely different than what the contractors had done. Have you run across this problem? Now I’m about to cover the Revere Pewter in Simply White. How many coats do you think it will take? I’m thinking I’m going to use flat Benjamin Moore paint in Regal Select.

SW Emerald Urethane or Benjamin Moore Advance. Make sure to use the proper primer. Stix Primer (BM) Extreme bond primer (SW)

What about high gloss comparisons like Fine Paints of Europe Hollandlac 98 vs. Farrow & Ball High Gloss. One is water based and one is oil. Also the Hollandlac 98 Door Kit would make a great video.

Hi Lyna, If paint is peeling, it's usually because of moisture seeping in from the drywall, so you'll want to use a primer. You'd have to scrape the paint with a paint scraper and then a wire brush. Plaster/repair the area(s) with a patching compound, sand, and then use a primer before you paint. Hope that helps!
