Did they calculate everything for you, spine range according to length? I have issues with the same arrows to tune how I want them also haven't used the easton chart for so long that I forgot they list their stuff a bit stiff.

One thing you left out " Spine consistency ". One club tested all carbon shafts and found only Easton to be consistent shot to shaft.

Looking to fix up my old recurve to hunt with. I will be pulling 55lb at 28” draw. What spine you recommend for that? I’m totally new to traditional archery for hunting. I used my recurve to bowfish long time ago

What is your draw length though? As that will impact the bow's weight, and the spine of the arrow. We do also have our spine charts here to help out: www.3riversarchery.com/pdf/ArrowCharts.pdf

If someone shooting 40-43 lbs recurve and want to hunt deer or deer like animals, what arrow weight do you recommend?

  • @3RiversArchery

I personally go with a 10 grains per pound of pull for hunting set-ups. So a 400 to 430 grains of a finished arrow for your set up.

@@3RiversArchery A lot of people says that for this low draw weight (40-43 lbs) bow, I should have arrow that weighs 460-500 grains, or I won't get enough momentum. But my gold-tip hunter arrow weighs 434 grains. Do you think this weight is lethal enough to kill whitetails?

With a sharp broadhead on the end you will have plenty to effectively kill a whitetail deer. Once you start going above the 10 grains/pound I see a significant drop in arrow flight and that can hinder having good shot placement.

@@greenhoodedvigilante458 I would consider going with the black eagle micro diameter arrows. They have a hundred grain outsert up front. That being said with a razor sharp point and good placement any arrow will do the job. Unfortunately sometimes we don't hit that exact spot. Sometimes the animal moves too. So, added penetration is always good.

@@UncleDanBand64 Micro diameter arrows are expensive, not interested. Also, I'm shooting an arrow that is 28 inches, already have over 18% foc (500 spine with 50 grain insert, 150 grain point), so I don't think 100 grain outserts are gonna do much.

I will stick with Easton aluminum. I went to my 3d shoots 4 times this year didn't miss one target not all 10 but still good enough for me

FOC is foreword of center, not front of center. Archery pro's should get it right.

Correct. We use front of center. It is just fine that you use forward instead. I'm not sure there is much difference in the wording of front vs. forward to say one is right and one is wrong.
