I think this has been the most helpful video I've watched since I began my reselling journey, which has only been about 7 months. The whole "comps" thing has always mystified me. But what always actually frustrated me was the fact that all the poshers on KZread would throw that word around all the time, but never actually explain what that word is (in the reselling world) and how do you literally "check the comps". Thank you so much for explaining it both in theory and practice!!

Is that your man looking like a little trooper in the driver’s seat of your car? 🤣 So cute! Also, with the prices of Goodwill up in Portland, have you ever considered shopping at Plato’s Closet, girl? I’m in the Bay Area & my local Plato’s are RIDICULOUS! I’m talking $6 Aviator Nation crewnecks & I just grabbed a Pendleton purse for $8 yesterday… idk how these kids bop thrift stores stay open exactly, but it looks like all the franchises follow a Winmark model & somehow manage to crush it! If you want Lululemon they got that biz for daaaaaays… and I happened to befriend the owner of 4 of my local Plato’s & she now has me as clean up for all the rejects from her buying counters & OMG!!! I haven’t even bothered with Poshmark since this has happened because I can’t even walk into a Crossroads or Wasteland without making over $500. Since the target market for Plato’s is teenyboppers they often pass on all things high end or too adult-like, including Free People, soooo… this is a hot tip that I’m probably going to erase sooner than later for obvious reasons, but def wanted to share with you because you shared with me! Girls supporting girls! 💁🏻‍♀️ Also, congrats on the new love of your life currently on their way! May you always be this exponentially blessed in every possible way, girl! Cheers! 👯‍♀️💖

I've been reselling since the beginning of 2021 and your channel has been my go-to for advice. Thank you for all of your wisdom. I just wanted to say that I can't believe the prices of the items you find! A NWT pair of The North Face pants for $4.99? Here in Wisconsin, that'd probably be at least $14.99 at Goodwill. More at St. Vinny's. Eileen Fisher for $3.99? Never. Any item sold at Revolve? Hah! I've found one in the 7 months I've been doing this and it had a significant hole and was unraveling. They were still trying to sell it for $4.99. I can rarely find brands even this good here in resale stores and, when I do, they're never worth it because the prices are incredibly high. Plus, they're often damaged. We do have St. Vinny's Dig & Save here where prices are excellent but rarely will good brand names make it there. When they do, 80% of the time, they're stained or damaged. Almost everything of any actual value in my Posh closet is a personal item that I bought brand new for me years ago. I guess I'm just venting. Every time I watch your videos, I pause every few minutes to say "WHAT? You found ____ for ___?! AND new with tags?!" I know it has something to do with the wealth in the Midwest compared to the west coast but damn. It's not like I'm in the middle of a cornfield. I live in a big city where we have stores like Lululemon, Madewell, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade... but none of it ever makes it to the secondhand stores? I guess more people here hang onto nicer items longer or sell them themselves. What I'm saying (to anyone reading this) is, if you can find nice items like these for good prices like these, be thankful. :) And, I mean, if anyone has any tips for reselling in the Midwest/my situation, they'd be appreciated!

@@abipalm5693 Me? I've probably sold 25% of my closet listings and the average sales price is about $20. I don't have a ton listed so far because of lack of funds to pour into stock and I've been kept busy with other work. It's more of a side thing for now until I can free up more time and money to source. (At the moment, I try to source once a week.) The inability to find decent items to sell is the #1 reason why my closet isn't very filled out, though. When I try to source, I usually only come home with an item or two after I just combed through a store for five hours. I'm changing my game plan to only purchase from Dig & Save where the average price per garment will likely be about $1. I've wasted way too much time at Goodwill. With an initial cost of a dollar, it's pure profit, no matter how much it sells for and, if it is damaged and I don't catch it before purchase, it's not a huge loss. Personal items make up about 1/3 of my closet. The rest was sourced just for reselling. It's almost all women's and men's clothing. No rhyme or reason to it, just try to find anything I think I can make a decent profit off of based on comps. I like Mogi Beth's rule of ~60%+ profit margin but usually have to settle for less. I don't do much in the ways of shoes and accessories, though I'm not opposed to them. I've just had extremely little luck finding anything even remotely valuable. I stay away from home goods, beauty products, pet stuff, and the like.

Hi! I am a fairly new reseller, only about a year in, so there’s always a possibility that I’m reading some thing wrong and I really don’t want to put my foot in my mouth, so please tell me if I’m wrong on this… One thing that I always check along with my Solds, when checking comps (which I did learn from you, by the way😘) is to check how long ago the items were sold. I do this by checking when the item was last updated, which could be misleading at times, but is usually pretty accurate since the last time it would be updated would be the day that it sold, correct? By checking this I can tell if the interest in the item was flourishing at one time but died weeks or even months ago… and if it’s a seasonal item, I might just need to hold onto it a little while before listing…Am I wrong in my thinking on this? I would love any feedback! Love your stuff and thanks for all your hard work!
