Fantastic video! I have a E89 Z4 as my daily but bought a 3.0 E85 for fun. I spent almost 30 minutes looking for the dipstick. Turns out the E85 is as complex as my iDrive BMW. Thanks! 😁

Glad i have the M54 , dumb ass idea using sensor for that. I have had the low level oil sensor that sits in the bottom of the pan fail twice in 16 years. Glad I can check the level of the oil with a dipstick . Would not trust a sensor.

i just did an oil change and mine doesnt go all the way like it did for your, it’s js on the end of it

I've driven my Z4 for a while and the oil level "loading" animation just times out and returns to the odometer without any reading. Pretty frustrating. I wish it was at least the error screen so I could positively identify what needs to be fixed. Thanks for the video.

I have the same issue just loads and sits there. I'm not sure if its working or not, No lights telling me its not working. Didi you manage to find anything about it?

Your oil level sensor is bad

but mine keeps on loading and then turns off and then never give me an oil reading

Sounds like your car has electric steering. No hydraulic fluid

Hi. I just purchased a 2007 that has a small leak at valve cover gasket- the clock light stays on even after the engine is plenty warm for - it had a recent oil change - the oil check process takes over 5 minutes then just goes back to normal with no indication of oil level. ‘Any ideas/suggestions?

‘Same here… URGHHH! The engineers who came up with the ridiculous idea of “no oil dipstick” must’ve been stoned out of their minds.

I can't check mine, I follow this procedure but the little clock thingy just goes and goes until I eventually cuts out to the Temperature

@@TheRealToybox then how do you know there's enough oil in it ..does it have a separate low oil sensor ... or do you have to wait for the big end knock

I believe the 06-08 Z4 temperature gauge is the oil temperature, not water.

Definitely water temperature. You can only access the oil temp via secret menu

Mine says +1. Is that 1 quart low? New bmw owner here....no book...

for that you’d had to go under the car to where the transmission oil pan is

I usually change my oil completely when it gets below 1 tick
