Nice work on the video. Good to see we can still get down on that darn concrete floor to fix something and walk away for lunch... LOL. I see some are adding drain plugs to allow easier oil changes. I guess one advantage is you can crack the case open and change the oil filter and inspect inside.

After seeing this video, which was well done by the way. I needed to change the transmission fluid in my 20 year old LT166. I also was replacing the cracked fuel tank. once i removed the fuel tank, 3 bolts and the fuel line clip, the whole transmission was exposed to my surprise. The filler cap was right there. Removed filler cap and used a fluid suction tool and it worked great. refilled fluid, put tank back on. super easy. FYI to you all. 🙂

I watched terrell fixes things and he said the 2 marked spots under the tranny you can drill and tap. It's not that hard, but I would just do mine as it stands. UP on a ramp so I could get to the 2 spots and drill them out and then tap them and put in the square head plugs. He said it is there for each manufacturer if they want to put in a drain plug or not. It is all up to the company that makes their mower and uses their trannys. 🙂

@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Just drilled mine today. The metal isn't very thick on one of them so won't be many threads when I cut them tomorrow. Must be careful not to over tighten. The outer surface of my case also has a fair texture to it so I decided that needed to be flattened off a bit or will need a very soft washer to seal it. EDIT: After tapping for an M8 drain plug I decide the metal was too thin, fortunately it looks like i can drill and tap for an M20 plug and it will have much more metal to form threads.

I've been scrolling through the comments and as I go up and down the more show up from 7 days ago or more and nothing was there before. So, you did not go by what they recommended? Just did seals on the LA110. Check the axle washers closest to the transmission the spacers actually pressed the inside of those washers into the seals cutting them to shreds. Put thicker tsc 3/4" washers on to fix it. If you don't care about the looks of the mower you can remove the seat spring bolts and lift up, remove gas tank and you have access to the top of the transmission, it just gives you fender flares. 😂 Thanks for the video!

my tranny is the K58 and about 330 hours. Do you think it's time I drilled out those 2 spots under the trany, drill and tap them. No way I'm doing all of this when it's easier to drill and then tap and you can pour gas in the top plug to clean it out. But I know, you probably can't get to the magnet on the top cap. That is just soooooooooo much work. 🥰

Great video!! What are the initial driving symtoms before the transmission pulley fails? I have over 200hrs on my JD130 lawn mower. I just replaced the main drive belt. I have noticed there is less and less power while going forward or in reverse. When I raise my foot off the gas pedal it seems to regain some power but not much it then gets slower and slower. Would the transmission pulley be a likely culprit?

Does it work better at 1/2 throttle? If so I suspect the filter is starting to plug up in the transmission or it’s low in oil. Any leaks? The bottom pan needs to come off. @@WeekendHobbyMechanic blah, that's not music, it's computer generated noise. it's your video and you can do it the way you want of course, I'm just making a suggestion as a viewer, but when you're doing a demonstration or an instructional video, any audio or video effects you add that have nothing to do with the demonstration, it only serves as a distraction to the viewer. it's an attention divider. Do you want the viewer to focus on your demonstration, or listen to music? trying to do both at the same time diminishes both. I know the TV commercials, TV shows, and movies do it, but you're not doing a commercial or entertainment video. You want your viewer to think and learn what you're showing them. Playing music just makes that more difficult and adds nothing to the demonstration.

Great video. I think I will attempt this. It’s never been done in 17 years 🫢
