    Sometimes the filters can be in odd places. It you can, try to follow the duct work. Try to identify there the air enters the furnace and trace backwards. you may eventually find the filter. Also, sometimes you have to open up the front furnace panel to access the filter. So instead of the filter being on the outside of the furnace, it's inside the furnace housing, and it can normally be accessed through a access panel. Good luck.

    I change my furnace filter regularly, but still notice a lot of dust. Even good filters only make it 2 months. Should I be adding additional filters around the house? There's one medium/large size wall grate near the entryway & then 1'x1' ceiling grates in each room. I don't have carpet & everything is cleaned regularly, so wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

    I thought this video was excellent. Nobody is born with knowledge, and while most people will think changing a filter is as easy as A, B, C, they forget, once upon a time someone had to teach them how to do it. The only thing I think could have been better is that he should have told the viewer to turn off the thermostat, before changing the filter. That tidbit came a little late for me. But overall, I am thankful for this video, it was informative to a new homeowner like myself.

    Suggestion is to write the filter installation date somewhere on the filter, preferably on the side facing out so that it can be readily seen. On some of the more expensive filters (like the one being installed in the video), there is a small white rectangle good for this. Writing the date helps remind you when the last time the filter was replaced, and I am told they are supposed to be replaced every 3-4 months.

    My old furnace used to last 3 months before a filter change but ever since I bought a new furnace, the pleated filters only last 1 month (which really sucks). Any longer than that & my heat doesn’t come out properly. I actually had to remove my filter the other night cuz it was getting colder in the house even though the furnace was running. Barely any dirt on it too! But apparently these newer units are really sensitive to dirt.

  • @WordofAdviceTV

    @WordofAdviceTV

    @@coolcat6303 If you use cheaper filters that may help with that. For example if you are using a MERV 8 or MPR 1500, try reducing it to MERV 3 or MERV 300. That will allow for more airflow to get through and it will filter out debris almost as good as the more expensive, air restrictive filters.

    +Bernue Lithgow Try jiggling the filter that is in it around as you pull it out. You may have to give it a pretty decent jiggle around trying each direction as you pull on it, and give it a stern pull. Don't do it TOO too hard but it can handle a decent pull. It's annoying when that happens. Hope this helps if you haven't already tried that jiggle!

  • @HowToWithGEO

    @HowToWithGEO

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, most filters are designed and constructed with an airflow direction in mind. If you reverse them it can decrease the effectiveness of the filtration and/or decrease the airflow. Decrease in airflow can effect your furnace by making it work harder, and it can increase its noise level a bit.
