    Never put water in the RAD you have to use distilled water and you should remove the thermostat and run the car without the thermostat for about 2 min filled with distilled water then drain it again this way it will remove the rust and anything else in the system Look at the colour of the coolent in the rad after he filled it.

    To be honest, I am not 100% sure my man! I've read that motor needs between 2.0-2.5 US gallons of coolant. But other than the actual coolant, that specific motor might have a different way to do the service as well. I would recommend looking at other videos to get a better idea for that specific engine! Hope this was helpful

    Coolant is being drained, not flushed. However, Toyota maintenance schedule calls for draining and filling. A flush is not required unless the old coolant was contaminated or was not changed on regular basis. "Oxygen rises"...? What do you mean by that statement? There's oxygen in the water, there's oxygen in the air... "Oxygen rises"?

    Glad you enjoyed it! This camry has driven over 30,000 miles since this video and no issues at all regarding the coolant :) As long as your 2012 Camry has the same engine as this 2014, the process should be identical!. Peak 125,000 is another good option, as long as it's made for Japanese cars! Hope this all helps!

    I left the rad cap on, for initial drain. The fluid gets sucked out of the plastic bottle, to test the vacuum relief valve on the rad cap. The bottle emptied. Last bit of coolant couldn't quite make it. Just stayed trying, but bubbling. Then, open rad cap & remove plastic bottle. Be careful staring & running engine after filling. The thermostat is on the suction side of the pump? & it'd be closed at cold start? Keep squeeze pumping the top hose, gently, to feel for heat & pressure. Also keep touching cyl head? Fingers Far from the Fans... Just buy a couple of those plastic drain taps anyway?

  • @nomadyesmad4875

    I hope it sucks out the plastic bottle, cuz on my car I have to remove the 40 lb. battery to unbolt the bottle. If there is any gunk in it I will have to remove it to clean it.

  • @lesliedsouza4077

    @lesliedsouza4077

    @@nomadyesmad4875 Yes, bottle needs to be removed, to clean gunk, if gunk has actually appeared. Which car do you have? Where the battery needs to be removed, to access the overflow bottle? 40 lb, seems a heavy battery?

  • @nomadyesmad4875

    @nomadyesmad4875

    Жыл бұрын

    @@lesliedsouza4077 Yep, My memory served me correctly...Google just said the typical 12v. battery weighs 40 lb. I was just dreading having to lift it out as my back doesn't like doing it. My 99 corolla that I've had since new has to remove the battery to change the starter, left-side headlight ( which has never had to be changed but I did the right-side in 2014 (weird huh!), and again overflow as well. Other years bottle slide in and out on a bracket. Also, I always struggle to get the battery bracket rod back-side that hooks into a hole to put it back on. If there isn't any gunk at the bottom do you think it's worth the slow drain with the cap on? I also thought about draining as much as I could then stick a hose in it with a drain pan in place and overflowing it. What do you think?

    Is this type of flush even worth the effort? What about all the gunk through the engine block etc.. Once the system starts, all that gunk not flushed, mixes immediately with the new coolant. Worth the effort? Sorry but I think not. I'd put a half Saturday aside and focus doing a full flush, distilled water, perhaps repeating multiple times, the works. I'm know mechanic, but I like to do and complete the whole job. Your videos are really appreciated and clearly you know exactly what your doing. So it's no bad on you. Possibly more about me, been just too pedantic. Sorry hope no offence is taken, none are intended. Regards

    Do not add tap water into the cooling system. Hard water will cause problem that one issue, second issue is you are throwing off antifreeze to water ratio. Finally, Toyota uses phosphated hybrid organic additive technology in the coolant. Do not use anything else other than Toyota SLL coolant in your Camry. And yet, turning on heat to max do not do anything. There is no valve in the Camry to regulate coolant to heater. It’s on all the time. Do your home work, know your engine before posting misleading videos.

    Ok I read the comments about distilled water and it doesn't matter if you use distilled or not. What I do is fill from where the hose connects because of dirt. I worked for a mechanic and have personally done many coolant flushes with just plain water. It doesn't hurt your engine or anything that's why all coolants have anti corrosion additives. If you don't believe me then read the fucking label it "recommends" distilled water but it's not required.
