The side aluminum bracket with 2 studs and 2 bolts CAN be slipped out over the studs ...very close and pushing the AC aluminum line over a bit on the fender well helps. Then studs can be broken loose using an external #8 torx socket in combination with vice grips on the non threaded portion of the stud. The timing mark for the crank is located on the toothed backing plate of the crank gear....NOT the crank gear itself (confusing in the first part of the video). The drilled mark on the crank gear face is for the timing belt mark. I found it helpful to put some whiteout on the edge of the belt at the yellow marks for the cams and crank. A mirror and flashlight used from the fender well was the best way to determine alignment of all cover, pully and belt marks on the rear cam.....view must be parallel to the pully face or the angle of view makes the marks appear unaligned. Tighten the tensioner pully with a pry bar and tiedown bungee and check the alignment marks on cams and crank with belt one more time before popping the tensioner pin. Glad I did. On disassembly, remove the tensioner before removing the idler pully....otherwise rear cam will be pulled out of place.

Super video Sir! Thank you very much. We have learned this skills that you have spent time practicing in only minutes. You make this difficult job look easy, and anyone following your lesson can do this. Thank you especially for warning about the 10mm bolts that hold the water pump. Stripping those threads could be a real problem maybe. As an engineer by trade? I tip my hat to your extensive mechanical skills!

At 9:24 - on my 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, there is also no room to jiggle out the side bracket and the E8 studs must be removed, however my studs are super tight and I can feel the E8 socket starting to strip the head. Do you next use a stud extractor or heat the stud with a torch? This is my very first timing belt change so it's both fun and terrifying.

Engine run fine. not shaking, rocking, or knocking. But not sure what is the problem and how to solve it. please advise.
