    Wow so much work to replace the radiator. A lot of other cars the radiator can be replaced by itself without disturbing AC system.

    Glad I watched this video before I started changing the radiator myself. Lol, I guess I have to take it to a shop. I don't have anything to recover the A/C. I also don't have anyone to help me with removing the bumper.

    Thanks for sharing the video. Quick question: at ~10:30 you vacuumed the refrigerant. What if I do not have a vacuum pum? Can I just disconnect let the refrigerant out and have it refilled in a shop?

  • @a2zautomasters862

    @a2zautomasters862

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching. It’s doable but I don’t recommend doing that. You can get injured or hurt from the cold refrigerant and it’s also illegal to vent refrigerant to the atmosphere.

    Thanks for your video. I have to change the radiator of my 2013 ML500. When you disconnect the transmission and power steering connections, do you lose any fluid from the systems? Do you need to plug the hoses or top up either system? Thank you

  • @a2zautomasters862

    @a2zautomasters862

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes you definitely lose some, you should plug the hoses and you still have to top off the systems because you will lose whatever amount of fluid left inside the radiator it self when you change it. Thank you for watching and I do appreciate your comment. Plz let me know if you have any questions.

    @@a2zautomasters862 thank you for your prompt reply. Your insight is greatly appreciated. It is the transmission fluid that concerns me the most due to the filling procedure. Thanks again, I will post and let you know how I go. Also I have only just found your channel and love the videos you make. They are very detailed, yet easy to follow.

    Great video, very helpful! One question, I just bought a 2013 Mercedes GL4.7 Bi Turbo. The temperature needle over middle a little is that normal? What temp does the high speed fan kicks in?

  • @a2zautomasters862

    @a2zautomasters862

    On that particular car the thermostat was changed not too long ago that’s why it wasn’t changed in the video but it’s a good idea to change it while you’re at it.

    How was the condition of the water pump? I approaching 176,000 and will need to do my radiator I think. small little leak on drivers side under the main hose where the metal meets the plastic. Any thoughts? Thank you for this video!

    @ this kinda miles you should change the pump, the radiator, the thermostat and upper and lower radiator hose and call it a day and if you see any other coolant hose that doesn’t look too good, change it now.

    Yep I work on MB for a Living as a mobile mechanic. They are overpriced piles of crap. But keep in mind even the Honda dealership is just as expensive as Mercedes in many cases. They wanted $4000.oo to replace a catalytic converter On my wife’s odyssey. I did it myself plus a new 02 sensor for $300.00, factory sensor too, aftermarket but good quality cat from catco.
