    I used a tactic from another episode of the Yes Minister on a smaller scale. "Flood the minister with works, administrative documents, and overseas trip, so that we can run the country properly" I flooded my bosses with other unimportant works so he would forget to demand be to do other works that needs time. Absolutely flawless, no more messages demanding stuffs 😂

    In Julius Caesar, Mark Antony calls Brutus an honorable man as an excuse the murder of Caesar, causing the crowd to turn on Brutus. In Othello, Iago tries to excuse the behaviour of Cassio, calling him his 'friend', in front of his boss Othello, which plays perfectly into his plan to have Othello suspect both Cassio and his own wife of having an affair! Whenever somebody asks about the point of reading classics, we must remember that while tempora mutantur, human beings have not changed much since the time of Shakespeare, or Caesar, for that matter.

    Well, I think, that the series shows, that sometimes it is a good thing to put the brakes on overidealistic ideas to prevent them from disrupting a more-or-less working system to crash, causing more problems than the squashed idea would have solved. And Sir Humphrey is the one doing the preventing. But you are right, many other times, he is, if not a villain, at least a macchiavellian antagonist, serving his own ideals and his own perception of 'right' - or, rather, 'proper' - and 'wrong'.

  • @danieldickson8591

    @danieldickson8591

    What saves Humphrey from being an outright villain is his firm insistence that he follow the letter of his function as a loyal civil servant of Her Majesty's government (as he interprets it). Any suggestion that he would do otherwise genuinely appalls him.

    Although i happily own all the series from the BBC on CD and DVD and watched them several times now, it`s still interesting to learn how other people react to it. For me the series was so educating because the writers were having an inside view how politics and the people actually involved in the process are acting and their motives for doing so, by an experienced politician of that time, if you focuse on `YES MINISTER`, you will see that nothing has changed in politics since almost 50 years, the themes politicians play are very much the same : environment, education, data privacy, defence, women`s rights, the EU and being helpless about the economy.

In Windows, it's most often deep in advanced sound settings for the types of output (speaker/headphones) through the Sounds Control Panel widget. Some drivers can come with custom software, such as kit with Asus sound adapters, or Dolby software in ThinkPads (in Windows) and Motorola smartphones with Android.
