This was positively the clearest and simplest, most effective oil change video I’ve seen. Especially good for beginners. Thank you so much for letting us know the socket sizes as well.

If you change the oil with the machine on its side stand, there is no need to make a funnel out of foil, it will drain straight into a pan without touching the frame or exhaust. Doing it this way also allows more oil to drain. This is the method RE says you should do in the owner's handbook.

My dealer wanted $600 for the first 300 mile service (that's including a 20% discount). I decide to do the oil change myself, and I'm glad I did it.. The dealer doesn't use good oil, and I don't have control over it. I got Motul 300V 15w-50, and after the change, the engine ran so smooth. Gear change was noticeably smoother as well. The process was a breeze. Bought the filter off amazon for $12 and the oil was about $66. Just need a wrench; very straightforward process. Now I will watch youtube to understand how to check the tappet. Save myself a ton of money.

Doesnt the manual suggest semi synthetic oil? Motul 300V 15w-50 is fully synthetic (Im a noobie so dont know what Im actually talking about) - does it matter??

Thank you for the video, it was great and demonstrative. I was perplexed why the owners manual spec'd 2L for the first fill and 1.6-1.8L on subsequent changes until I watched this. Funky bike is certainly funky but it is quite fun to ride!

I couldn't figure out the difference in oil levels either. I always thought too much oil was bad.

The image at 0:21 shows replacement of oil at 6000 miles. At 3000 miles it indicates "inspect". I'm all for changing the oil ahead of recommended intervals but not at the halfway mark.

I would definitely check my oil a lot more than 3k mikes. These bikes are great but they like most single cylinder bikes tend to burn oil especially if the rider runs them at higher revs.

Good video, do you needs to soak the new filler in oil first? Do you have a dealer in Australia or just get stuff from your website, cheers

You do not need to soak the new filter in oil before installing but it certainly won't hurt to do so. Unfortunately, we do not have a location outside of the U.S., but you can order from our website. Thanks for watching the video. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/

After my first paid service engine oil change i could see the oil level is above the max indicator on this window, in fact the entire window is filled. Is over filling the oil an issue to be taken care?

Most of the time it's not a big deal to have a little extra oil in there but if it's very overfilled, you could have some problems.

Be sure to check your oil when it is warm and on the side stand. It's what the manual indicates. When it's off the stand and on two wheels it appears the oil level is higher than it would be on.

  • @hansdieter5091

How do you do the normal Check of the oil Level? The manual is very unspecific. I always ride 3 to 5 min, turn the engine off and let the Bike Rest for 3 min on the main stand. Than i Check the oil level

  • @rmatvmc
