How To Change The Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid In Ford 8N (Milkshake) Big Problems!!

So I’ve had this Tractor for about 2 to 3 years now I don’t hardly run it or drive it but one day I wanted to use it and the lift wouldn’t pick up so the ol man asked if I checked/Changed the hydraulic fluid in it I said no so we check it and it was completely milkshake so I got all the stuff for changing the fluids and changed it and bam she was picking up like new so I’ve done lot of research what to put in it and how to change it so hope this video help and you share it alone thanks everyone and God Bless

Here is a little trick for you. When you were pouring the oil, you had the spout at the 6 oclock position. Next time when the bucket is full, put the spout at the 12 oclock position and this allows the bucket to get air and it doesnt go gluck gluck gluck. It just flows real steady. Of course when the bucket gets low you will have to turn it around the way you had it in this video.

You need to drain all three compartments on the 8n to get the water out it actually has three devivded compartments inside likely to prevent a hydraulic leak from draining the transmission and rear differential of their oil I have to change mine soon also as my rear lift is not working under heavy load ether. So next time make sure you drain all three if you want to replace it all. 😉 still it was fun to watch hope all goes well recomend changing it in the fall as this will protect the pump from water freezing on busting it in the winter according g to what I've read.

Do You have lifting problems by this Milkshake? I don't know much about this model of tractor but its not different construction of our polish tractor "c"-model serries especially my favourite Ursus c330/c335 so I think that maybe the change oil will be good for mine olso. Its good that such young people like You cary of that old tractors! ;) Greatings from Poland :) Good job!

Seems I have to change mine about once a year. Lots of condensation gets in and contaminates the oil. Do the brakes work on yours? Common issue for axle seals to go then take out your brakes. Tore mine apart and replaced axle seals, brakes and wheel bearings last winter.

Yes actually it’s hydro and gear for the rear end and the transmission all use the same fluid that’s why it’s important to change it every year.
