Thanks for doing this video. I never really understood how brakes worked and didn't realize it wasn't as complicated as I thought. I don't plan on doing this myself -- but, now I know what to ask the mechanic and I see how much time it takes to do it, so I will be on the lookout for being overcharged!

Thankyou for posting this video. Just saved me Mucho Denaro by showing me how to do this myself. I now have new brakes on my civic for $32.50 in parts :-) Took me less than 1 hr. start to finish. You gave me the confidence to change the brake pads myself, this was my first time.

I've known how to do brakes for years... yet I watched this entire video without skipping :D - Great DIY tho, clear and intuitive unlike most. Great camera work too!

Great video. However one thing she forgot to mention is make sure to lubricate the top of the break pads with the grease that usually comes with the kit.

Great vid but one thing, tell me exactly why didn’t you grease your calipers or caliper pin bolt? Makes all breaks flow with the rotor better.

At around 12:18 that pad she puts in the back doesn't go in the back. Its actually the other sides front pad facing out the car. The ones in the back usually have a metal piece in the back. Your pads have to be flush for even wear through out your rotor n pad.

I am trying to find where is a safe place to put the jackstand. On 7:47 of the video, I can see the jackstand. What part of the car is it supporting? Is the jack mainly holding the car up or the jackstand? I watched another video and the person jacked up the car at the front area under the radiator and placed the jackstand on the side (where you placed your jack). I wonder which way is good or both are good ways? I hope Girl Teaches Guy too on my '98 Civic.

12:30 Sorry, but that brake pad is not installed correctly and will wear unevenly when you brake. Unless you're lucky and it does pop into place once you use the brakes, as you said it would; but chances are that won't happen. Therefore, it's better to take it out and try again!

12:30 Actually, I would take a look at why this brake pad doesn't move freely, if it doesn't do that your pad might get stuck on the rotor making uneven wear and overheating.
