    To pull more of the line through, you don't have to open the spool compartment, there is a button on the side of the compartment, that allows the spool to move one click at a time, letting a little line out as you press it and pull on the line.

    Very helpful thank you Neil. I also purchased a genuine Bosch line after finding the cheaper ones to be of poor quality and therefore not so cost effective in the long term. I’m happy that I am threading my strimmer correctly. I was beginning to think that the cheaper spools ran out so quickly because I hadn’t treaded them properly. I will not however be buying genuine Bosh parts from Amazon. I cannot with any conscience buy from them. I gladly pay a bit more to purchase from a local shop. I like to support my local traders and community economy. Fortunately we live in a country that allows individual’s rights to choose. Great video. Keep up the good work. 👍

    Good advice about using proper cable/strimmer wire - cheap stuff doesn't last a minute in my garden, even B&Q replacement wire. On my ART 23 SL there is a release button on the side of the spool casing which releases the internal wheel and lets you pull out the length you need.

    Great video, but my art 23 easytrim looks different to yours underneath. Mine has a centre cylinder that pushes in towards the spool to lengthen the line. There's no arrow notches like you point out and can't budge the strimmer line out of the socket at all.

  • @DADDELIVERS

    @DADDELIVERS

    Thanks for the kind update Jordan, this is a really old video now! It sounds like the line might have fused together in the spool - when ours gets hot, the line sort of melts onto itself, which is easy to fix if you can get into the spool. So sorry I don't know to take yours apart to free the line - good luck and intrigued how that one would open.

    There are cleats on the spool to hold the line in place till you put the reel back in. Once the reel is in place and the ends of the line fitted through the holes, you must push the line off the cleats, e.g. with the end of a screw driver.

  • @DADDELIVERS

    Thanks for asking, Samantha. It depends how long it's lasting... They do wear down quite quickly, especially if you're edging around stones etc. But you should be able to get at least a few minutes out of it like in the video. Is it cutting off quite quickly, or nearly instantly? If it's happening as soon as you're using the strimmer, it might be a sign that it's not in right, or maybe the spool is the wrong way round? Sorry I'm not much of an expert, but double checking the arrows on the spool and turning it around yourself by hand might help? Good luck, and let me know if this doesn't work.

    Hi Neversync Thanks for the kind question That sounds like a good idea - the hole seems big enough, but I'm not an expert and dont know what kind of strain that would put on the motor... but love the sound of that - it would show the nettles and brambles what for... This might be a great idea for another video! Have you seen a 2.6mm line that fits or would it have to be fed on by hand?

    @@DADDELIVERS I do not know, although someone on Amazon UK reviews suggested to put on 2.7mm thick wires since it would cut grass much better and last a whole lot longer. I might buy both a 2.4 and a 2.7mm set of wires and see how it goes once my trimmer arrives. It has mixed reviews almost everywhere I look, is it still going well for you?

    @@0xEden. Sounds like a great plan. Ours is going strong a few years on, but maybe we don't use it enough(!) It's good on grass and stone, but like the idea of a thicker lead for the stuff I really need to trim - the nettles and brambles. Would love to know how the 2.4mm goes!

    Ahh, I'm so sorry to hear about this Alison - this happens to me too, so I don't know if this is the same problem or solution... What happens to jam mine is that the cord kind of fuses together, so the heat of it means the lead kind of sticks to itself. What I use is a house door key or some tweezers, and try to prise off where I think the end of the lead is... Sometimes this is really tough, and I have to kind of jam the key under the lead and follow it along to where it's melted to break the sticking together. Hope this makes sense or even works and hope I've understood the problem correctly -- good luck!!!

    Did you know that strimmer nylon line dries out, so if you soak it in water for one day it becomes less brittle and will not break off so easily

    Technically Bosch call it a "trimmer" but I always call it a "strimmer" because everyone knows what that is and it won't get confused with something else, like a hedge trimmer or something.

    To answer this eternal question. It's a matter of copyright. Same as brand names sellotape and blue - tac. The company stihl own the rights to "strimmer". They forced the industry to use the word "trimmer". If you keep saying "strimmer" online or commercial platform u should be paying royalties.

    Why do people replace the entire cartridge instead of just buying line. Just too lazy to wind it on? Also, I’ve never seen a strimmer that needed manual feeding like that - is it broken? Either they auto feed, or you press the base down on the ground and that releases a bit more?

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzread.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    Hi Ayat! Oh my goodness - thanks for the kind question. I'm absolutely not an expert and avoid cutting in the garden! But, if it were me, - and this is just me - I'd go with the Bosch. We just got a flymo trimmer and it's not nearly as good - it's heavier and shorter so you have to bend down. Here's what I would look at to compare on those -- the distance from the handle to the base, if it's short, you might be bending down which is horrible -- the weight: the lighter one will make it more likely that you do more trimming! Good luck with your choice and thanks again!
