That's great info, thank you. I tuned in just to find the jacking point as I'm changing brakes. I go to a reputable oil change garage because after the cost of the oil, filter and getting rid of the used oil, it's not worth it to me to do it myself.

I don't know what parts of the world you live in, but there should be free oil disposal locations if that's costing you somehow. If you can get the oil and filter for about the same amount of money as it is for a shop to do the job for you, then its better to do that because shops usually don't pay for high-quality products and get the bare minimum for your car; also you know what kind of job gets done when you do it (plus some shops legit try to fuck your car so you eventually come back... this has happened to me even at a legit lexus dealership, they fucked with my wheels when they didn't report work on them at all and it was my last manufacturer warranty oil change; additionally they work the mechanics to death and are usually short staffed which means cruddy work). I completely understand that convenience of not doing the job is sometimes worth it in and of itself (I got tendonitis so I won't be changing my oil anytime soon). Much love brudda wish you all the best!

Some garages you just won't know what oil you are getting and if most of the old oil is released out... if you have the time and know how it's probably best to change the oil by yourself..

Thanks for the video! I was able to change my oil following your instructions today. I did struggle with the oil filter though, the drain plug on it was over torqued and took me some effort to get it loose to replace the o ring. Also I learned from another video to add some oil into the filter housing with the new filter before putting it back in so it doesn't run dry initially. Old oil can be funneled back into the container of your new oil and taken to a place to have it recycled. Hope this helps someone else, thanks again!

glad I searched for NX200t process. So its not possible to remove the filter cartridge without the adapter tool? Looked like it might have some wing sides to help grip and rotate, unless I'm mistaken.

Thanks TPP garage for making video and commenters for their experience, I found a filter wrench by Pennzoil at Oreilly with teeth for $10 that looks like it will work. Changing subjects, what tires have y’all had on this car that are quiet, work well and are long lasting? Original are Bridgestone, they are pricey. Would rather stay under 200 each.

That oil filter is impossible to get off. I even bought the adapter. Next oil change I'll just take it in and let the service center struggle to get that thing off. Will say Changing your oil every 5K is just wasting money. I was a 10k mile oil change skeptic at one time too. But I came across an article and Automobile Magazine the editor sent his oil into an oil testing company after his 10k oil change. Not only was it still good it had 2500 mile of life left in it. The 90s are over modern-day synthetic oils are really good.

Everyone who has this system should be prepared for a worse case scenario especially if this is the first time you're doing this. In case of a Stuck Oil Filter Make sure you have the following... 1. The proper Motivx* oil filter cap wrench. Item #MX2320 is for all Toyota/Lexus/Scion engines 2.0 liters and larger using a cartridge style oil filter or item #MX2321 is for all engines smaller than 2.0 liters using a cartridge style filter. 2. A 27 mm ½ inch drive socket 3. A ½ drive breaker bar (18 inches or longer in length. An extension may be needed for some models.) If an oil filter cap seems difficult to remove, only the above items should be used (or equivalent tools). Do not simply use a ⅜ inch drive ratchet or ratchet with extension as these will sometimes result in breakage of the oil filter cap wrench or the oil filter cap. Always make sure the teeth on the wrench are properly engaged with the tabs on the oil filter cap. To prevent reoccurrence of the problem •Make sure new o-rings are properly lubricated before installing. •Use a torque wrench to install the oil filter cap to no more than 18 ft.lbs (25 N•m). Oil filter drainplug = 9 ft.lbs. (12.5 N•m) * If you think the Motivx tools are too expensive at least consider the following... Do not buy an oil filter cap wrench that is made from cast aluminum. Only buy one that is forged. Do not buy one that is strictly a cap wrench that does not have teeth. Do not buy one that claims to fit all models or even all four cylinders. The 2.0 and 2.5 liter four cylinder engines use the same oil filter cap wrenches as the six and eight cylinder engines use. Only the 1.8 and 1.3 liter engines use a different size oil filter cap and oil filter cap wrench. If the oil filter for your four cylinder vehicle comes with one o-ring instead of two then your vehicle takes the same wrench as a Prius or Corolla (unless it's a six cylinder). If your oil filter comes with two o-rings & a service pipe for draining the filter then your oil filter cap takes the same wrench as the six and eight cylinder engines. Some companies claim their wrench works for all four cylinders but on the 2.5 liter engines that smaller wrench does not engage the teeth on the wrench to the tabs on the oil filter cap. It may work if your oil filter cap is not stuck but it is a poor choice. They are mislead. For those that don't believe this is a problem... kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaFhuK-Cm7fdZs4.html

@@angelbluerider9588 That's the whole point though it's not. Engine and engine oil technology have come so far. There was a time when cars required 2k oil changes. My dad thought 5k oil changes were crazy. Thoes engineers have had a lot of practice.

Lol how often to change oil is the most confusing thing ever. Dealer says 5k, manual says 10k, Mobil one oil says 20k. But at the end of the day just check your oil color from the dip stick. If it looks dark time to change.

@@angelbluerider9588 maybe u should change every other tank full... unless, of course u r using wut i call " real oil " wen u use a ' top shelf ' synthetic like AMSOIL, like i use & sell, u can follow their mileage recommendations... maybe ur time iz worth as little as the oil u r talking about... i just ran my '16 lexus nx200t 3 years, 2 months & 2 days, going 23,671 miles... waiting 4 test results... butt still getting 36/38 mpg on hiway... far better mileage than the m1 that came in car... & better protection & starting in winter... good top shelf oil iz ALWAYS better than orig... except m1, almost lost a vette engine using that crap...
