Question. Will this technique prevent your router from reassigning that IP say if the device you've assigned it to is powered off and you install another device that needs an IP address assigned to it? I'm not completely clear on what yeilds the most power, the router or the windows system you use for this. If you made a course on home networking setup, IP assignment, port forwarding etc. I'd buy it for sure! Thanks.

Thanks for that, I might make one in the future! So a quick explanation on your issue, you will need to bind your computer's MAC address to a specific IP on your router. The router determines the IP's not Windows. I will see if I can make a video explaining this for you sometime soon.

Your default gateway is your router so I don't think so, unless you can change the router.

Hi there, glad that you could follow along to the guide. As for your question, I am not too sure. Can you check what happens if you disable the Ethernet adapter and then apply the settings to the Wifi adapter? Also, if you click on "Advanced" at the bottom of the window where you can enter the IP address, a new window will open and in that new window you can check if there has been more than one default gateway set up. Let me know how it goes!

once i type in arp -a in cmd it only shows private ips, same goes for network connection details, i can just look up my public one but idk what to change it to not knowing which are available

You can use a tool like Advanced IP Scanner to check which IP's are available on your LAN.

Hmm no I don't think this will help, it only changes your local IP address, not your public one, which is what is used on the internet.

I did it, chnaged the last numbers to a different number in the range, everything seems to work as normal, is there any reason why when i look up my IP on myip website its showing my IPv4 as the same numbers before and after the changes?

Yes because this only changes your local IP address. You need a VPN to change the public IP, check some of my latest videos on the channel, I uploaded 2 this week about free VPN's .

It depends, if you have some network issues you might need to change your IP address. Also, if you want to have a "static" IP address, meaning it doesn't change. If you don't have any specific reason to change it, then just leave it as is.

It doesn't work for me, once I've done changing my IP, it says "No network access" at my IPV4 connectivity and my wifi won't work, could anyone help?

I don't think so, it doesn't change your public IP address (what you get from your ISP), it only changes your PC's LAN IP address (internal network)

Not sure how it will really help them, this only changes local IP, not public.

This may be a good tutorial but, for anyone who is reading this, I think it's best that you just leave your IP address as it is. 'Cause after I did everything, my internet got disconnected. Like, it just stopped working for some reason in which it gave me a heart attack. Luckily it came back on, in which I was able to revert everything. But either way, do not mess with your IP address. Do not mess with it.

This method will change your LAN IP but not your public IP. Public IP is from your ISP.
