You don't have to use a rotary file, the proper technique when drilling steel is to use a low speed, with high feed (i.e. more downward force) to avoid work hardening the metal. It also helps a lot if you have a sharp, quality drill bit and a lubricant like boelube to keep it cool. If you are afraid of the drill bit walking on a rounded surface, file it down flat a little and center punch it. Also I feel like it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get a hold of some aluminum rivets to squeeze or hammer in there if one is having trouble finding the hardware used in this video.

Says good luck trying to find the hardware, gives out the dimensions for said hardware and then says that screws with the exact same dimensions don't work, then says that if he knew where to get the SCREWS HES USING he would tell us. Did you hit your head? You don't know where to get hardware that you're using and bought yourself and tell everyone else good luck and that you've done your best to provide information.

That's some really outstanding work. I have a grey lightweight Maxamet Manix 2 and I would like to replace the ball cage and the ball. I'm considering to do the re-assembly with 2.5mm screws and nuts. I'm planning to JB weld the nuts to the side with the integrated backspacer. However, before I destroy the rivets and disassemble the knife, can you please tell me the diameter of the hole in the lock bar before you widened it to accommodate the female clip-part screw thingi? I assume it's a little less than 4mm (I just converted the .156" you gave as a reference to metric)? That Information would be highly appreciated.

I'm not sure what else you want from me, I've told everyone several times what screws they are. If you have a Manix2 LWT with a Wire clip you have one of the screws I used holding the clip on. The problem is I have no idea where you can buy these screws from other than Spyderco, and they will not sell them. I looked for several weeks and ordered hardware from 3 different retailers that had the correct dimensions for diameter & length. For various reasons those screws would not work, the only hardware that I have found that works easily are the screws from Spyderco. But like I have said many time, they will not sell them to you. If you call them they will send you one maybe two screws for free along with a little tube of Loctite. If I had some other info I would share it, as you can see from a lot of my videos. If I knew where you could get these screws, I would tell you and give you the part number. The Truth is I have passed along all of the info I have. If you want the actual measurements of the screws here you go, Female Side - Length .268" Diameter - .154" Male Side - Length .246" Diameter - .110" Outer Diameter of the heads on both pieces - .210" I warn you about buying these from other places they will not be what you're looking for even though the measurements in length & diameter are the same. • @OCD4EDC

It’s not a tutorial on how to locate hardware! I said very plainly in the video and countless times in the comments how and where I got the hardware from. It came from Spyderco and was a special one time deal that I cannot get again. I pushed for months and it took the help of a Spyderco Dealer & a Factory Rep to get the few screws I got. If I knew where to get the hardware, I’d have it for sale on my own website! Your more that welcome to prove me wrong and post up the hardware honey hole if you know where it is! Everyone would love it! Thanks for watching! 👍👍

"The hardwear is a nightmare to find". Sooooo no way provide a link to where you got said hardwear right? I mean really dude, clearly other people are going to want to do this. Not putting the link after constantly saying how hard they are to find is at best an oversite that could and should have been rectified and at worst a deliberate dick move.

Uhhhhh some of us can’t because they’re limited sprint runs (my long sold out blade hq mint/M4 model for example).😂 Well, I guess technically we could. We’d just have to get raped by the scumbag flippers selling them for $100++ more than they were when new.
