Rubber/nylon mallet as opposed to heavy metal,... just damaging the paint coating which will promote premature rusting.

Although i kinda see where your coming from i think the clear footage is good. Surely its better than some bad angled video trying to watch while you have your head under a car held up by a scissor jack waiting to collapse and behead you with the disc brake?

  • @cliffjockey

Absolutely not beyond your skills. The car is on the ramp for clarity and because they have one. I've done plenty of these control arms in the driveway on a jack and they're very easy to do.

Just to note if your doing this at home you will probably be doing it off jack stands and it is nowhere near as easy as it looks here. Nuts and bolts seize and are difficult to get at and can be very tight, the new arm will need manoeuvred into place which can require a fair bit of force and the bottom ball joint can be a sod to get back into the hub carrier. Nothing on the video is incorrect, this is how a pro garage will do it just beware doing them at home and good luck.

The arms should only be torqued up when front wheels are on ground....or ramp as it would be or they won't last very long at all😎
