videos like these prove if you want answers to some car question, don't go looking for it in some manual, just post a video or make a comment where you innocently make a claim or try your hand at a new repair, and all the answer know-it-alls will come flocking to you, to yell at you viciously about how you did something or other wrong :). granted, your answers will be yelled at and sneered at you, but youll get your answer :D

Hope you have two jacks there. I jack my car up on the sides. I think the book shows that, but now they are rusted. so your method of jacking makes better sense. My corolla belonged to my late father. Has 130000 miles on it. I don't want it gone too. My left caliper had to be belted off with a hammer because it was rusted closed.

I completed replacing my rear brake lines(rotted), my front calipers, rotors and pads. I found I had to replace by rubber lines connected to the front calipers too because both original hoses didn't fit the the replaced caliper without leaking . Hoses were $17 and $35

I did take that block in two, by removing those 14mm bolts. Then it was easy to fit those pieces in with springs and everything.

Nice Job, well done. When tightening the wheel lug nuts, it is better to tighten the opposite nut from the one just tightened. Not a big deal, but the best way.

Those 17mm caliper carrier bracket bolts should be around 79 ft/lb not 25 ft/lb

So I'm confused, The pad with the black tab should be on the outer side of the car facing the piston that gets pushed into the caliber?

this guy is wrong about the sliding guide pins being wrong because they are not the same. they are meant to be different from each other. had he bought new ones he would have seen the new ones are different like the old ones. Instead he bought a new assembled caliper so never saw the new guide pins. Or he could have checked a repair manual.OLDER COROLLA UPPER AND LOWER GUIDE PINS ARE NOT THE SAME. I suggest you do not follow this guys method, try another or a book!

Being certified through the state for brakes. Im sorry to say but he did many things wrong. If you do not know what you are doing. Toyota has something called tree he TSRM (Toyota service repair manual) you can download them for these corollas. Or you can buy a haynes Chilton book.

is that ASE certification? I took auto repair in 2005 and don't recall any mention of a state certification here in MA. I was 45 when I learned, so I was told I was too old to hire anyhow.

Go to a parts store and they will give you the same guide pins for upper and lower...so I think your mistaken on this.

I'm afraid you are incorrect, the caliper slide pins are different, one has a rubber section and one doesn't
