How to change engine oil Lincoln Town Car

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I explain and demonstrate how to change the engine oil in a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. The process differs only slightly from a 2002 and older that uses a steering box vs the 2003 and newer that uses rack and pinion steering.

Video spot on. However, use the correct oil filter wrench. Easier. Ford V-8's have used the same wrench since my '59 Ford and there's plenty of room. Curiously on my '07, there is a small plastic diverter located directly BELOW the filter that catches 85% and directs it to your catch pan. This may be missing on some vehicles. Not sure if it's on Crown Vic/Grand Marquis but spilled nary a drop, which is a FIRST. That's for the torque specs and 16 mm tip. Takes more prep than actual time to do the job. Nicely done.

Dude my 1992 has less rust under the hood. Where are you at?? I'm debating on even changing the oil or not. It's 5 years old but only 1000 miles wyt? Just flushed coolant. Very easy with petcock

I'd still change the coolant. Coolant is cheap but if the corrosion inhibitors break down, it'll cost way more to fix than a coolant change would have. I always change coolant 5 years or earlier. Last thing you want is a corroded heater core leaking into your floor.

Right on Hollywood, I've never made an oil change video. They look so difficult to film. -Chuck

I have an 09 Lincoln thinking about changing the oil myself for the first time.. Nervous. But I have questions... do both front ends need to be jacked up? How far under the car do I need to go? Do I add oil to the entire new filter before putting it on?

You don't need to completely fill the oil filter you could even install dry if you want. You should lift the whole front end or drive on ramps so the crank case is level and the oil can flow out of the drain hole. If you choose to only lift one side it will be very tight underneath and uncomfortable to move around.

Hi, question why did you use a different oil? Why not the factory recommended? Thanks.

Because I'm not interested in using thin oil to improve fuel economy to appease the government and avoid the gas guzzler tax. That ship has sailed, crashed into the iceberg and sand to bottom of the ocean already. I prefer thicker oil with a higher film strength at higher temperatures. Edit: but if you prefer the lower viscosity for duel economy reasons, you do you. I see no benefit to it, and I don't live in a place with a constantly cold climate.

My 04 lincoln knocks a few times after change - normal?

  • @HollywoodHornet

Normal. Takes a few seconds to rebuild oil pressure. If you want to alleviate that, after oil change, pull fuse for the fuel pump/injectors and crank the engine for like 10 seconds. It will build pressure without starting the engine. I only do that on my BMW. If I were less lazy I'd do that on all of them but I am lazy.

I"m on a mission in life to change "JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY" (and it's variants) to a simple "Holy Schnikes!!!". Not only would your mother be pleased but likely so would Sister Margaret Mary, RIP. And that's all I have to say about that. I feel for you with idiots and torque. Move the cheater bar slight down on the ratchet. Good clean vid Chief.
