Hi, great guide. But you always show wishbone, or bush replacement on the right side of the car. And on this particular PQ35 platform VAG car, the left side is a complete different story if the car has a DSG gearbox. Then you have to lower the subframe to get out the bolt on the front bush. Maybe you can do the left side on a DSG Golf 5 / 6, Audi A3, Touran, etc and show how to change the suspension arm on the left side

Same as B6 Passat in the US. Good job, but you didn't torque any of the bolts???

This video is considered to be an informative one. All the main bolt connections must be tightened to the specified torque and angle with a torque wrench. Best regards, Autodoc.

Is it the same for a car with dsg? I've heard the dsg gearbox hinders arm removal. Thanks

Unfortunately yes, the DSG box on the PQ35 chassis cars prevents you from being able to remove the frontmost bolt on the control arm meaning you need to drop the subframe to remove the arm, however, this job can still be done without the removal of the arm.

what about the smaller front bush, this seems to be the most problematic and wears alot faster than the rear bush.

Oh great. Yes this happened to me also. The car suffers rust issues and when those bolts rust up there are not going through the aluminium threads that they sit in. I spent the whole day drilling them out and tapping the treads. I'd never have anything to do with VW Audi again.. My Fiat Punto was superior in quality compared and was a pleasure to work on.

you do not have to remove the are to do this job. just remove the 18 and the two 16 bolts and simply chap the bush off. it doesn't require a lot of force, and push the new bush on. very easy job.

OK, basic stuff but no mention or indication that the suspension will require re-alignment after the wishbone renewal. Also God save us from neanderthals that use rattle guns to do up wheel bolts. Wheel bolts HAVE to be torqued up to the correct torque (80-85lbft), moreso for an alloy wheel. One tyre shop fitted new tyres to my Merc and rattled the bolts up to 350lbft !!!!!!. It cost the tyre shop more than the tyres were worth >£500 to extract the bolts as they were shearing when attempting to undo them. Having lost a wheel at very low speed due to sheared wheel studs as a result of overtightening and then realising the consequences of a bouncing wheel potentially dropping down onto a dual carriage way, such irresponsible mechanic'ing should be a criminal offence!

Totally agree. No mention / display of tightening torque or wheel alignment. I've had my wheels over torqued by these air guns.

You make it look so easy as if you are making sandwiches. Well I've done my whole subframes on my octavia. Simply the worst car I have ever worked on in over 20 years. I would avoid anything to do with Audi Vw. Spent hours on seized bolts. The metal would be better quality if made out of cheese. Everything I have ever touched on this car I have hated. And the amount of tools needed is a joke. I know Fiats have a bad reputation but if you want a car you can fix easily and still have time to eat lunch. Fiat Punto is the best car I have come across for the home mechanic. Was so cheap to run and maintain. If you maintain things well they don't give so much trouble. Unfortunately I gave my Fiat Punto to my brother And unfortunately for him I'm taking it back!
