Thank you sir, I was concerned about pushing the piston back in the rear but needle noses worked for me! Thanks again 😁

Thanks you're the man it's hard to find exact videos of the same car you going to work on. Trying to stop the annoying squeaky noise from brakes could be my clip scraping the disks

Just done my front pads and only cost me £32 and an hour of my time. I will tackle the rear breaks later on in the month. Thank you for your tutorial.

Just changed front and rear pads on my 2015 Civic. This was a real help thanks but must advise that really you need a break calliper screw press for the rears. Twisting with pliers didn’t work for me and definitely needed the force against the piston alongside the screwing back. Save yourself the stress and purchase one before trying . Rears also we’re much trickier taking off and on the callipers. Fronts were a piece of cake.

Just did my rear brakes outside in the dark! Great video thank you. caliper was very difficult to put back on.1 tip for putting the caliper back on. Loosen up the 2 bolts holding a brake hose on with 10mm socket. I had to use a 1/4 in socket and extension to reach it! That allowed me get iit just over the new pads

Superb, just been quoted £400 for rear discs and pads for the rears, using Honda parts and Arnold Clark labour. Discs are fine, EuroCarparts are doing rear pads for £24.47 ! Hopefully sort it as well as you have. Love the chill hop music BTW.

Question Why would you pump the brakes unless you didn’t show the other side when if you change the brakes when finish all 4 then you pump brakes

Please get a wind in tool, can be had for £15 - £20, one slip with long nosed pliers and that's your rubber piston seal gone! Little job becomes a big job. 😥

  • @offbeatwarble

The uneven wear on the rears can be due to lazy caliper or oxidation of the caliper where the pins pass through, the oxidation is between the rubber guide and the caliper itself, this then pinches the pin, it's worth removing the rubber guide and removing the oxidation else your new pads will end up the same. Notwithstanding that it might be the caliper itself.

You are spot on, I bought new slider kits from Autodoc at £3 a per, they come with two new slider pins, the rubber grommets and correct grease. Once you cut the old grommets out, get a round file and move all of the oxidisation away. Grommets are a bit fiddly to get in but with plenty of grease not too bad a job. Honda wanted £77 for an individual slider pin?????? WOW!!! £6 for both sides for all from Autodoc.

Thanks for the good video! This was useful set for cleaning Civic's stuck rear brake. It's btw good hint to mention releasing hand-brake to allow detaching the rear brake caliber, I initially made exactly that mistake and wondered how the caliber can be stuck so firmly :-D

My 2015 Civic does not have wires supporting the caliper. But it has 2 V shape thin wires(springs) to push the brake pads outward.

Good video ,,small comment if you leave the old pad in against the pistons,, just use a metal ( C ) CLAMP YOU JUST SCREWS INWARD, THEN IT WILL COLLAPSE IT.. DONE

Did you have to bleed the rear brakes for the piston to retract?

No just remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and push the piston back in . The fluid will push back into the reservoir.change the pads pump the brakes and jobs done .

It pulls out but doesn't go back in all the way. I used long nose pliers at first, thought that was the problem. I went and bought the tool and still no joy. 😢 I think the caliper needs to be replaced. Ahhh.

It’s either subframe click which is common or if you have a lip on the brake disc the pad will knock against the disc lip.
