How to change a flat dually tire on a Ram 3500.
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Caught a flat on one of the rear dually tires in the landfill. I usually do not make long videos. This is about how long it takes to change the tire with the factory tools except for the jack.

Thank you for this. I just bought my first dually and this is totally what I wanted to see. Sorry you had to deal with catching a flat, but it helped me learn something about changing the tires. You're as real as it gets man. Keep up the videos like this.

Just purchased mine yesterday and I needed this too. He made it simple as he spoke through it.
Just came home with my dually yesterday and am behind the curve. This video helped to ease a lot of anxiety. Treat like I would any other tire. I forgot about breaking the lugs prior to lifting, I appreciated the reminder. Great video! God bless and thanks for your service.
I'AM 46 YEARS OLD NEVER OWNED A DUALLY .I DO NOW !!!! LOL HAD NO IDEAL HOW TO CHANGE A FLAT AND NO ONE TO TEACH ME GREAT VIDEO HELPED ME A LOT THANKS. KEEP ON TRUCKIN
Thanks for taking the time to do this video!! NO ONE else on KZread has taken the time to complete a FULL video on dually tire change! Great work from a fellow RAM owner!!

Ditto! I've always been a truck guy with 1967 GMC (a gift when I turned 16 from my dad), after graduating from University of Texas in 1996, I got a new job and bought my first Ram 1500 (stolen in less 2 years). Bought a Ram 2500 Cummins long bed in Austin, TX which I had for nearly 11 years until the engine blew up on a highway in Massachusetts. With a $11,700 price tag for a new engine replacement/labor (vs cost of the truck itself) and with my last payment for my 20 acres in West Texas, I bought my first dually Ram 3500 just 6 months ago. It was only recently that I understood why the truck was making funny noise as I drove on the freeway. As I parked my truck in front of my house, the outside rear tire was pressed against the curb and that's when I knew I had to change the flat. Came here to check it out! I really enjoyed your video and thank you for that plus sorry you had your struggle as I did with my first dually flat. One thing that I'm missing is the iron bar extension which I didn't have so I had to buy the T-bar as I didn't understand how Dodge would throw in an iron bar that was useless for the rear wheels. Wishing you the very best in your business success from a fellow Texan (originally from the high rugged desert town of El Paso)!
My fine sir, I just used too much data watching a video about a problem I don't have with a vehicle I don't own. And I enjoyed it all. Thank you for the knowledge and the chuckles!
Was always curios how the Dually tire setup worked. Thanks for the info. And yeah man, Dodge should give you a call to do some commercials! Entertaining personality. Looking for a cordless impact wrench myself. Heard some surprisingly good reviews and comparisons with the ones they sell at Harbor Freight that are like half the usual cost. Hope you got one or get one soon.

I'm glad you mentioned about a cordless impact wrench, but I havent bothered to do my research for one as it'd be a great idea to have one on-hand. I'm heading to Harbor Freight Tools this afternoon!
Just got done doing this today. Wanted to make sure I done it right!! Thanks man !!!
New dually owner and figured this was the way. Thanks for making the video; it still helps us all learn. Good knowledge sharing as well.
I concur with Sonny.-just got a newish Ram and I like to know what to do just incase. Excellent video instruction not to mention all the extra tips. Thank you so much.
I don’t know how I ended up watching this vid. I do drive a dually, but I watched the whole video. Lol. I LOVE the commentary. Good show man
I just drove 24 hours straight home from Texas with a trailer that had been sitting on my property out there for about a year. Blew 4 tires on the way home… luckily no tires on my dually! Great video! No I know what yo do when I do loose a tire on my dually
Picked up a RAM dually a few weeks ago and this was on my mind before I bought it. Will be going out tomorrow to check over and simulate. Pop that cover for sure. Seen Ford Dually vids that can't get them off without straps and 4x4's. Thanks for your time in sharing. Doesn't look to hard if you do a little prep now before it happens.
I work for a company that does powder coats in austin, and we got our first dualie truck. Loved watching your video, thank you 🙏
Just bought first Dually today and this was all ready on my mind on how to... thanks now I’m not as worried.
11:50 man I watched this years ago without tools. Now I got me the new impact 1/2 Milwaukee and everything. 😤💪🏽🙏🏽 ‘ I wanted to stop playin around too. 🙏🏽
Outstanding! Thank you. A while back, we had a flat on the right front tire of our 3500 dually. I hadn't changed a tire in many years, but managed to do it at the side of the freeway, at night, without *too* much damage. Just a little while ago, about to head out, I saw that the right rear inner tire was flat. I've *never* changed a dually tire, and the manual isn't very helpful, so I searched YT, and this was the first helpful-sounding video I found. You did a great job of showing the whole process, and I appreciate it. Now I just need to go back out there and do it. Fun times. I expected the TPMS to give some kind of warning when a tire went flat, but mine doesn't, whether because there's some setting I need or some other reason. The jack provided is kind of a joke...wish I had my floor jack with me, but I'm mobile, can't take many tools.

And now it's done, with a bit of work but very little stress, thanks to Johnny Bobby. I even found enough tools to cobble together a way to use a cordless hammer drill to to the spinning on and off, though I was using a chrome socket, so I didn't try to torque it with that. I used an actual torque wrench, though I bought it in the '80s and it hasn't been calibrated since, so...Anyway, thanks again, Johnny Bobby.
This took me back a few decades of my former self. Love the candid experience of the BS that you deal with.
Thank you Sir. I just got a class C RV sitting a a Chevy Express 3500 cutaway chassis...with dually tires on rear. I had no idea how to remove/change the tire. Now I do!!! Appreciate the video. Have a great day...
“Come off, oh well it’s a work truck” amen to that! Thanks for the video just got my first Ram. 5 year car hauler.
Really appreciate the video ! Really very helpful and clear on changing the inner tire in a dually configuration. Thanks so much !
Damn, thanks for sharing. I just got my first dually and was really wondering how to change these rear tires. Good to know the spare fits all around. Safe travels.
Man, I watched about 30 seconds, and had to subscribe. I could tell right away you keep it real, your smart, and funny! Thanks for the video .
Thank you for the video. I have never changed the dually tire and this just made it easier. You ROCK!

Thanks for this video, like Sonny below me here, I've owned multiple 1 tons but never a dually, I feel better about traveling with the family and camper now. Please keep it up with the information.
Absolutely loved the commentary, this is exactly the video I was looking for. Great job :)
Thank You Johnny, I've got a low inside dually from a valve extension...and I needed to see how you should remove a set of duallys. Thanks again, Greg
Just got my ast RAM dually. Had no idea how the back tires worked as far as how they come off etc. Great vid. Thanks!
5 months ago bought a brand new Ford F-350 Diesel Dually long bed. Came with 1 year "free" Ford roadside service. Long story short: I got a flat and they (Ford roadside service) never showed up. I learned how to change that flat on my own but it took me along time....(thank goodness the flat was in my driveway). Learn from ,my mistake: don't wait till you get a flat. Get out there in the drive way with your floor jack and change a dually tire (or any tire) and practice so you know how do it it when the time comes. My fear is I am crossing the desert at 115 F and I get a flat. No way do I want to wait / hope / pray my "roadside service" shows up (Ford / AAA / Good Sams, etc). I want to know how to do it and get it done and get back on the road. I will buy a impact wrench tonight. Thank you for the video.

@@johnnybobby862 ...Very helpful and due to your video I will purchase a floor jack, (right now I only have a bottle jack that came with the truck) and impact wrench. By the way, I bought 12.00 construction knee pads at home Depot. When I have to change a tire, fix a flat, check my spare psi or any other work on my truck the knee pads come in handy. My jeans don't take a beating and I can get the job done quicker without screwing up my knees. Please make more vids. Thank you.
Yo my man, you changed out a dually flat faster than some guys can on a civic. Nice video!!!

Right. A T-bar and an impact gun will definitely save time.
This man is the embodiment of the American spirit
Thank you for posting a good video. I wouldnt have thought to take the valve extention off. Yes, get yourself a impact wrench. It saves time and your saftey when broke down on the road.
Thanks for your Service Dude! Great explanation of real world living!
Just what I was looking for! Nice, real video. Keep em coming..
Thanks for the upload! Informative and funny! An aircraft mechanic and a ram owner!? My kinda dude! I’m originally from P-Town and I’m a pilot in VA. Bet you worked at ORF! Stay safe out there
Enjoyed your video keep them coming. I agree with you need either a cross wrench or air gun to help with those lugs. I haul a fifth wheel and thought I would always call AAA but think I will try it. Thanks
Thanks, I really enjoyed it. Talk like a working man

this was very helpful and very 'down to earth'. thanks for uploading!
Thanks i went throught 5 other dually tire vid before i found this one that showes the inner tire
We bought our first RV (with dually wheels), and I never have had to change a back inside wheel before. But as things are aging now, it's probably coming. I always wondered if there was a separate mounting plate or something like that between them, really wasn't sure what in the Hell I'd have to do if happened to us on a road trip. It is such a relief to know they are both mounted on the same lugs with just the inner rim curvature reversed from the outer. Thank you, I just hate you went thru this aggravation to give me a little peace of mind.
You to work in NASCAR, I thought you changed that quick with the tools you had to work with. Thanks for the video
Good Video just purchased my first dually few months ago
Thanks for the video thinking of upgrading to a dually . Now I know a thing or two . Lucky you had that car jack ! I keep a small roybi impact driver in my truck at all times and Roybi tire inflater. All under $100 bucks . I break the lugs and then use the impact to run the lugs out same when installing but use the breaker to finally tighten until I get to shop. Tire inflater is cheap also but battery powered so you can also pump trailer tires and not worry about outlet and stuff . Great video hope I help .

Good Advice Boss.
"I can't complain." Thank you for the wisdom and laughs.
Thanks my Brother, I’m a new Dually owner.
I love this guy's attitude when he's pissed. You know ten seconds ago he was like "FUCK! Fuck, fuck, God piece of shit dammit to Jesus Christmas and Mary Monkey Shit!" Then he starts the video and he's like "That's not what I was hoping for today."
thanks for taking the time do make this!!
Just bought my first dually and was curious how that inner wheel was attached. So thank you for taking the time to record during your ordeal.... ALSO GO NAVY!!! Might also add... next time take the jack/ tire tool unit out from under the seat with that thumb screw to the left of your video (rear of seat) you would have got your tool packed back up I. Seconds then slide the hole into back in.
Hello Buddy I think you will be a great sponsor for SLIME product never have a flat again
I'm in love with the DeWalt cordless impact. It's plenty strong to break lugs loose and put them back in, though I still always put a wrench on them because nothing beats checking and checking again.

I totally agree!
Thanks to a Brother Veteran. Your extra comments and humor made my day! Keep the faith Bro!
My 2005 Ram dully 4x4, for the rear tire air, I got these valve extenders that screw on and seal yet you can fill the air thru the rim slots on the inner rear tires. I put them on all 6 tires. I also remove the outer ring first then that takes off the inner ring. and i grease the retaining tabs so they come off and go on easier. You need a wheel cover removal tool to prevent damage to the plastic chrome ring. Or a pry bar with a fine ground tip. IT needs to slip between rim and cover well, otherwise it will slip and rip the chrome right off the plastic. PO damaged an outer chrome ring, some stainless tape can make it look much better again.
Thank God you had the tools ready for a flat, power tools would be awesome when you're on the road
I got my first flat on my dually. Mine is a used U-Haul, and I never owned a dually before. Luckily, I only drive mine every couple of months.
Down to earth. Ty for posting.
Thumbs up! I plan to buy a RAM Dually.
I remember given the job to replace pads and discs on one of these. 1/2 hour to do the job.
Now I know how to change a flat on my dually thanks!
I just randomly stumbled on this video looking up 3500 dually videos and I could listen to this man talk about anything. He almost seems like that friend you got that is always hustling with good advice. Subscribed!!!!
Thank you. I'm buying my first ram dually and wanted to know what to do and the exact tools ahead of time.
I took highschool French. "Ain't that some bullshit?" Is indeed French 😀👍
Great Video.
3500 Chevy on deck... I carry my impact wrench but i stick with my stock bottlejack... I have not had to use it, but I'm wondering if I should carry my floor jack at all times. I've never had to change rear tires, but watching video at home saves me from watching it on the i77 or a Lowes parking lot :) . Thanks for recording this. Be safe out there.
Great vid! Thank you sir!
I love this guy
Nice Job Navy man
very informative, thank you.
Thank you, super clutch!
Great googly moogly! Awesome 👍
great videos
Hahah you crack me up.....this sucks...I got a damn flat. Lol. Thanks for the video brother. Now I know
Lol!! Great video. Good humored and intelligent. Thanks! :-D
Thank you for this
Really funny commentary man beautiful just beautiful

Whacked my head twice in less 15 minutes. Man that hurts like F*** and not only that, I forgot about the rear hitch so it's even worse when my knee is whacked!!
Just buy a plug kit, they are like 5 dollars for a bunch of them. You could have plugged it when you heard the leak then just drove to the gas station and topped it off with air. So many people buy new tires when they get a flat. It's crazy. JUST PLUG IT! Lol
Thanks wondering about tire change thinking of buying a dually

I love my dually very much. Keep in mind, like he mentioned about the cost of a tire, owning a dually can be expensive so consider the actual use for a dually. I have no regret owning a dually as I own land and haul trailers once in a while. Despite my 5'5" 79 years old dad saying it's too big to be driving in a big city (Denver) and my wife being uncomfortably nervous riding it due to its "big ass" bumping other vehicles or passing some narrow roads around Downtown Denver, I had a good reason for getting one-I bought a house in Denver and will definitely need truck plus I own land in Texas. So consider the cost for replacing all six tires, two batteries, and diesel maintenance, it will definitely cost you money (except if you are a bad ass diesel mechanic like my dad then you save $$). Best of luck.
Rocks in-between the rear tires are a common problem with Duallys?
Good video, thanks for sharing. I didnt know "Bull $hit" was French? 😂😂
Adds more weight with the gooseneck trailer
Thanks for the good video . Instead of an air impact , try a Milwaukee cordless impact . They work awesome for these kinks of jobs . Keep on trucking .

Interesting wanted to see how the wheels go together, I have been using battery 🔋 🔧for 3 years now makes it 15 mins for replacing ,if had a job like that ,shi I get me an impact ,and 2spare tires .
Nice video. I would say invest in a battery impact. Paid around 200 for mines and works great

Do not get salt water in the ABS module but other than that its a great truck.
Ryobi makes a impact wrench its like 120 dollars it has alot of torque for electric impact.
Discount Tires road hazard free replacement/fix certificates are the way to go, at least if you live in Colorado. There stores are everywhere .
Great video, did you ever get yourself a impact wrench?
Great googly moogly! C'mon now! Man that looks great....but who are the Chefs?
Damm does hands under the tires, I would never do that, if the floorjack piston drops bye bye hands. But good info. Safety first 👍
13:00 Bad wheel removed.
