How to change 3D text (even in VCarve)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I continue to enjoy watching your teaching style Kyle. As you may be aware I have my own KZread channel where I do instruction on Aspire, vCarve, Lightburn, and Sketchup projects and then usually make the project. I am not nearly as good as you with the Vectric software - mine is all experience based. If I had to learn a function I know it and pass on what I learned. I signed up for your course after meeting you at the Vectric UGM in San Diego last year. I truly enjoy your course and watch your videos not only for learning more about how to use the software but to try and learn from your clear and concise teaching methods. I learn something each time I watch your videos and regularly recommend to others that your Master Training Course is worth the investment for any aspiring CNC user that has Vectric Software. A quick question about this project because it may relate to an issue I was having with one of the projects I worked on. I noticed that at the end you changed the material to be 1.5" thick to accept the model. I couldn't tell from the video, was the model originally .75" thick? I ask because I ran into a problem on a project I worked on with a friend. Our problem was the model got thicker when we didn't expect it or want it to. We were using the merge function - tried to play with multiply but it still hurts my head using multiply. Haven't totally figured out how to use that function and get the accurate results I want. My original belief was that if I use merge between components it shouldn't add thickness to the model, but for the sake of me it did. After researching online I got the impression that Aspire will determine model thickness based on components on top of pixels below. So no mater what I did I couldn't get the thickness to be what I thought it would be. Even if I used Merge, the model seemed to reflect the thickness of the combined merged components. I noticed that you used merge to put the flat round model into the original model. Then at the end the model was now 1.5" thick. Was this the result of pixel on pixel issue or was your model originally 1.5" thick? Just curious because this continues to bug me and although we adjusted the method used for making the project it wasn't straight forward and never did come out exactly with what we wanted. Required quite a bit of hand carving/sanding after the CNC to get to the end result wanted. Sorry for the long question but you made me think of this old project that I was never able to resolve and didn't know who to ask about it - until I found out how good you are. We can discuss outside this medium if you have time and are interested in discussing. Thanks again. Glad I found your course.

Is it possible to display the font in VCarve as heard in Aspire? That was yes two different types!

Yes, but it is a little more complicated to do so. I will show how that is done in my next video🙂

One difference: The text that you added is an indentation, not an extrusion. Can you replace extruded text with another extruded text?

Yes, you can do that easily with Aspire as I showed in this video. If you want to do it in VCarve, it is a little more complicated but can be done. I will do my next video on how that is done in VCarve.🙂

Very clever I luv it …Ques for those of us living in other countries, can you replace the star and stripes with say a Maple leaf? Ps you do great stuff thank you

Yes, if you have Aspire, you can remove the stars as I show in this video, and then add the maple leaf with the same technique that I added the text. You would just need a 2D vector outline of the leaf, which may even be available in the clipart tab.

Every time I go to level 1, right click, select clipping and hit apply all of the model goes away except the words I want deleted?

To avoid that, make sure you also have a closed vector shape selected that goes around the perimeter of the outer shape.

@@LearnYourCNC I built a vector around the word I wanted to delete and got the same result. The word is still with me and the model is gone.
