So happy you say so! That is also my biiiiiggest pet-peeve when it come to witchcraft related materials - regardless if itis videos, books or just peoples opinions. I even suspect that a lot of people never ask 'why', they just do - which of course is fine if it works for you. But what is so magical to me is especially the lore and history behind it all 😊 have a most magical winter solstice ❄☃

My ancestors were germanic/nordic pagan and I've been trying to learn more about how they would have lived, so this is super cool. Plus, my coven (we're a super new coven and most of us are brand new witches, some of which are also Christian) and I are thinking about doing a traditional Yule holiday to celebrate and draw ourselves closer to our ancestors and ethnic heritage.

@@Thewitchescookery Most of our parades were cancelled as well. We did things a little differently during the pandemic. We set up various little scenes in an area, and on Krampus Nacht, people could drive through our little "Krampus Lane" and enjoy improvised performances by the members of my krewe in a drive-thru "reverse" parade. We have other characters in addition to Krampus - even a few Frau Perchtas! It was a lot more work than the usual Krampuslaufe, but worth it to see people getting to enjoy a parade - even if it was an immobile one.

@@jbelcher6473 We usually parade thru the Bywater - always the first Saturday in December. The past 2 years, due to the pandemic, we had to get creative & have a drive-thru, reverse parade, but I am hoping next year, we will be back to running down Royal St (we usually start at Parleaux Beer Lab & end at Bratz Y'all). Hope to see you in the crowd next year!

What a winter wonderland in the background!! Lovely ritual and baking. My Italian father always made sure we had a tangerine or orange in the toe of our stocking.so I always associate the holiday with that smell. Happy yuletide!

Thank you! It is mainly thanks to my dad - he would always tell us stories and history growing up (he is a Theologian and Roman-Catholic deacon). If you replace the sugar with Xylitol and up the almond while reducing the flour it should definitely work! Have a merry Yule ❤️

Im from France and I live at the German border (Saarland), and I’m so grateful for having a lot of the Germanic traditions in my area too : st Nicolas, krampus, spritz cookies I remember clearly as a child putting the carrot for st Nicolas ‘ donkey, and the story of Lucia taking out the guts to put stones instead ! I must admit I’m jealous you live in Bavaria lol but I Love your channel 💜

I was born in Germany and spent much of my childhood in Bavaria, and miss the traditions and decorations and lore of the area for Yule.

I can't wait to watch your videos! What a treat! Every time I get a notification I rush to see.... You are so informative, beautiful cinematography and just so joyful - and funny! Sometimes (like today) I covertly watch this at work with my small bluetooth earpiece - my co-workers wonder what I am giggling about... I have your cauldron in my Amazon cart! I am also looking for a grey hooded cape like yours (which I have loved for awhile now) - but as you may remember I live in the Florida Keys so I need just a lightweight one for those rare cooler or rainy days. It would allow me a little witchy aesthetic without being obvious. I'm looking at rain ponchos on Amazon (basically our only shopping on these islands). I was already planning the pinecone ritual but I was going to write on slips of paper - never thought of bay leaves. I'm on the hunt for those now. I loved this video. Thank you. I live in Spain and we celebrate Santa Lucía on 13th December, we have bonfires and share food and drink and sing and dance around the fire

I love your videos, including this one! I sometimes get a little bit lazy with my holiday celebrations, but your videos kick my butt to get up and do something haha. Here in the Baltics, one of the very old rituals that we do during this Winter Solstice season is also smoke cleansing and juniper is usually used for that, seeing as you want to cleanse the house before the ancestor spirits visit on Christmas Eve. I've been researching a lot of our folklore recently and it's always interesting to see similarities between us and our Scandinavian neighbours or Germanic nations that were once our neighbours (*cough*Königsberg*cough*). Have a lovely Yule season! 🎄🌞

Knowledge good. You look like the snow queen in the snow. Baked goods and the punch and the fire is wonderful. I revere the yule with st Barbara, st Lucia and the snow queen or is it frau Hölle. We are at the third Advent and I also do the advent Kalender. It is magical here in this country.
