How to Celebrate Imbolc, The Witch Rites, Rituals and Spells that you need to know.

Learn how to celebrate Imbolc, from being fully pagan about it and raising the serpent to simply lighting a candle and eating butter. This video is everything that you need to understand and celebrate the witch's sabbat of Imbolc your way.
Imbolc means that the wheel of the year is spinning and spring is on its way and the first signs of warmer weather are coming. As a summer witch (I can't take the cold) I love seeing the first shoots coming up - it really thrills me and with the Goddess Brigid at her most powerful we are in for a wonderful new season.

I love snow drops. I grew up in New England, and right up until she passed, my mother would always call to tell me when the first snowdrops appeared in her garden.

I love how you added the detail that a sabbat is supposed to be celebrated starting the night before into the day. SImilar to how a Jewish Shabbat is celebrated from sundown to the next sundown. Just to note (for the Northern Hemisphere): Imbolc (1-2 February) Ostara (anytime between 20-23 March, always start the night BEFORE the first day of Spring that year, for 2024 that will be 19-20 March) Beltane (30 April-1 May) Litha (anytime between 20-23 June, always start the night BEFORE the first day of Summer that year, for 2024 that will be 19-20 June) Lughnasadh (31 July-1 August) Mabon (anytime between 20-23 September, always start the night BEFORE the first day of Autumn that year, for 2024 that will be 21-22 September) Samhain (31 October-1 November) Yule (anytime between 20-23 December, always start the night BEFORE the first day of Winter that year, for 2024 that will be 20-21 December)

I really feel that I live far north watching this video, middel Norway. It will be months until we can see snowdrops in our garden, and there is still a lot of snow, and yet more to come. April is more the month were the vinter loose to spring and summer. So celebrating spring 1.-2. of February is a bit odd.

Just a heads up that the pronounciation of Imbolc is exactly as it is spelled (Im-bulk). It comes from the Irish ‘Imbolg’ which means ‘in the belly/stomach’ (bolg is the Irish for stomach) :) It is important to get this correct if you are going to take parts of other people’s cultures to celebrate or observe, otherwise it becomes appropriation. I absolutely love your genuine enthusiasm for this, it is so refreshing on KZread. The admiration of Bridget/Brigid has had a renaissance here in Ireland in the last year or so as she is now seen as a Feminist icon. I think that is pretty freakin’ cool :) In fact we now have a new Bank Holiday on Bridget’s day for the 1st time this year. Long may it last! Everyone in Ireland made St Bridget’s crosses in primary school growing up,it’s like a rite of passage. Little did we realise that she was a pagan icon who was in fact appropriated by the Christians!

Also, many wiccans and other pagans believe that God (represented by the Sun) is a child at this time (God,the sun, was reborn on Yule, shortest day of the ). The Goddess is in her young virgin maiden aspect at this time of Imbolc. 😊
