I normally don’t see much difference in feeding when the cold hits them, might be a slim difference but I normally still get a few

Greetings from Florida! Tilapia are a big problem here, it's also illegal to release them back into the water. It is legal to keep them to eat however. Can you explain why it's illegal to possess them even if already dead? The logic behind outlawing their live transport is obvious but I can't think of any reasons why one that's already been killed couldn't be taken home and fried up in the skillet? A great video, good job. Cheers!

The whole purpose of the laws we have here in Australia, is all to stop them from spreading to different waterways, if you didn’t know already, tilapia hold the eggs in their mouth and the eggs can be out of water for hours if not even a day and still be alive, this means for some people that don Yknow this may leak the eggs and those eggs can get washed away to a new water system without any intention in the first place 👍🏼

@@flap-fishinglikeapro9925 Thanks for explaining it, that makes sense. The fact the eggs are in the mouth of the females would not have occurred to me since any I catch are transported straight home to be cleaned. The problem we have here in FLA is large wading birds like egrets and herons picking up eggs in one lake and depositing them in the next lake they feed at. Nothing can be done to stop that, aquatic birds like that are federally protected. I think one of the best arguments here for allowing people to keep them is that most people in the US would not go to the trouble of killing them if there wasn't a meal in it for them - and at $8US per pound for inferior farmed tilapia at the grocers that alone is a pretty good motivation :-)

@@franknoge we have the same problems with birds around here too, but that is why it is suggested to burry them or throw them in the closest bin nearby. Many people have tried to eat tilapia around here but a lot do not like them, we also got some pretty big problems with worms and diseases around here in our ponds so I’d normally preferred not to eat them anyway. They make for a great source of fresh bait and fish food so if I plan on using them for that I would fillet them when I catch them
