How to catch striper without a fish finder

I went out to San Luis Reservoir to test out my 2nd downrigger and I completely forgot to bring my fish finder. To top things off, I ran into some boating issues while on the lake. I almost gave up and went home but decided to troll one stretch before heading out.
Not more than twenty minutes later, I hook into a striper. Then another striper, then another striper. I used my downrigger to get a feel for the depth in the area and trolled right off the bottom. Using my Tackle Buidlers C-Rigs, I was able to locate and hook into a few stripers. Even had both rods go off almost at the same time on one pass.

That's the C-Rig. They're discontinued now. The new models are the Collapsible Atlas Umbrella Rigs.

Can you do a video on how to use the down rig and the setup of the lures? Is cast bait reel is better then then the open reel for trolling and how fast would you wanna go?

I think you're talking about the C-Rig right? The C-Rig is an umbrella rig that mimics a bait ball so it has a bunch of teaser baits at the top with only three baits at the bottom with hooks.

Cory Finley I've been using 30lb braid with a rubber snubber. It's been working great for me.
