Good advice again. I personally have been taught to stand at 45 degrees to the kicker so I can see him and the players in the box. Agree to change your position depending if the kicker is left or right footed. Nice tip to take a little step back to make you think whether to come or stay.

A new coach I've just started to train with (before filming this) was preaching to stand at 45 degrees to the kicker . Have to say I agree with him because you are right that you can see all of the players and the kick taker using your peripheral vision. So I'm going to start changing my starting stance to that 45 degree angle.

GK GOLUREMI There is no right or wrong, just different ways which might work better for some keepers than others. Every top gk has a different style so that proves it

@@HenrySaveAll This is somewhat true. I would say there are wrong ways of doing things. But there is no one right way of doing something if it truly works for you. Also, I've found the best way to figure out the best style for yourself is to be open to trying new techniques and ways of thinking. Then you can personally see how they work for you. If you like them you can adopt them to be apart of your game and if you don't then you can keep doing whatever you were doing before. But the important part is at leasts having an open mind.

Bro, crazy is an understatement. Most of us goalkeepers would put our face before we let it in. I've been hit in the face so many times from one on ones that I have had nightmares of getting hit in the face. Still love it though.

I used to play for a Mexican team academy and the first division coach told us to stay at 45 degrees. In case the ball goes to the first post, the middle or you can run to cover the second post.

I think you have good technique and I agree with most of your videos and techniques. When you are telling us the right teqnichue in this video I also agree with it, but when you show videos of examples I think you are doing something wrong. I can see you are using the wrong leg to protect yourself. When I catch crosses I also wait and I see where I can catch the ball. After that I do crossover all the way to the ball and catch it at the highest point. I think this gives a better rythme, but you have to time the run to the ball perfectly.

I've had this conversation with a lot of guys. Which foot you bring up is so dependent on who is actually around and challenging you for the ball. So there's not really any one right answer when just taking uncontested balls like this. With that said my first thought is which foot is going to allow me the best chance to collect the ball. And then my second thought is looking for protection. At 192cm and 88kg most pro field players aren't too interested in really contesting me for the ball. And if they do my size/momentum usually leaves me on the better side of the collision.

Yessir. But just make sure in training you get in the habit of trying to hold as many crosses as possible. You will gain confidence and your mistakes won't really matter. But of course in games if you aren't sure with a ball just play it safe.
