How To Catch Bass When Its HOT!

Спорт

It's HOT outside! But that's good news for bass fishing! Hot temperatures put bass in predictable locations and we're going to show you how to target them! With just a few simple baits you can catch fish all through the heat of Summer!
Whether you prefer fishing shallow or offshore, Summer heat will help you catch more fish. Shallow fish move into shadows (we'll explain this in-depth in the video) and deep fish make room to let the giants feed. We target them during periods of high sun using large profile baits in likely locations. Summer fishing is easy once you apply this approach!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits and equipment recommended in the video. We've even included our favorite colors for each bait. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Beware bank anglers. Walking everywhere in the middle of a hot summers day can be dangerous. Carry some ice cold water (at least 64 ounces) and take a friend with you if the place you are going is isolated. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke is not something you want to deal with out there fishing.

We fished our club tournament last Saturday and it was 90 degrees and 75% humidity. Sweat was dripping off everything. My partner and I put 15 lbs in the boat. A limit by 9:00 am was amazing. Docks, pontoons and trees overhanging the lake that’s where we found them. We were short by 1 lb of a club record. This just proves what this video is saying. We culled out 2-3 lb fish all the way to 2:00 pm part of the hottest part of the day.

Spot on info. On the really hot days I bring snorkel gear instead of fishing gear to collect crank baits. The fish aren’t just in the shade, they’re in the shady shade. So don’t just punch randomly in Lilly pads, look for trees and stumps in the grass and pads, the tanks are laying on the shady side of stumps, even if stump is surrounded by pads

That Dark of the dark is spot on. Stuck an 8 2 days ago when it was scorching. Only a few other bites, but I found a wood laydown in an area with zero wood at all and knew it was my chance. Threw big Freedom Jig in Bluegill pattern on the log and twitched it till it dropped off. The line got tight, and I knew I wasn't hung, cracked the whip, and it was on. That fish darn near worked me, with an Orochi Spec R and 15 lb line, but man, it made the day! Too much fun, and dealing with the heat was worth it! 😂 *edit... paused the video around 16.00 to comment came back and you started talking jigs. BTW, the trailer was a "RI Sweet Beaver" in green pumpkin with the tail tips dunked in Chartreuse "Spike It". Cracked a number of good fish on it yesterday but they were no 8...lol.

Two things. I work outside on black rubber roofs doing solar. So fishing in the summertime is peace for me #2. The lake I fish has a float pattern I swear. Lake is used for a summer camp and is littered with floating trampolines, slides, bouncy things for kids. Fish use them for cover and near by aerators. Pretty easy pattern. Find shade and o2 fish are always there. I love summer

Personally the heat doesn’t keep me off the water as much as it is the other people pleasure boating, swimming and rock skipping ( my “home water” is a 1/4 mile stretch of a dammed creek that basically is a long pond that occasionally has current. Being a bank guy it’s brutal trying to fish when every inch of bank has kids splashing and adults drunk.

Also, I think it should be noted that fish mortality is high in the summer so catch them, weigh them, maybe get a few quick pics and then put them back. Keeping them out of the water and or flopping around on deck or the shore is how alpha females and males get killed.

I've got a question for ya. In a video you said that the strength of a rod can stop the hook set for a not as powerful angler. Do you feel that you more or less get that same affect frogging from a kayak? When you set the hook your kayak moves forward quite a bit sometimes. Just wondering if I need to take another look at gear and maybe dial something even better in.

I have a question. How would you go about it bank fishing? I am restricted to this option not owning a boat. So there is a couple of ponds I can fish, One Creek I can fish and a River I can fish, but only from the bank. So, wondering how to go about it. (Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, Catfish, Redear Sunfish, Carp and Gar are all around in this area). I am interested in all of them. Not trying to over fish an area, but still want to put some on the dinner table. It just gets so hot and miserable sometimes I can't take anymore. Even with plenty of water and a Gatorade with me. I have trouble this time of year fishing because I am at seizure risk. I have had so much trouble that I am waiting for late August or Early September before I go out because the sun will be rising a little later and give me a chance to hit the water when the sun is coming up because the parks are not open during the night. (For bank fishing. Boat fishing from the river is, but not bank fishing). I also have to take the Bus, so there is that to take in consideration. (Not allowed to drive because of seizures). I appreciate the video and any advice you could give me as I am still learning.

My theory on why the big bites come more often on off days or times was always that the smaller fish can’t feed while the groups of big ones are hunting because they will get ate by the big ones or forced out of the feed because they can’t compete.naturally this forces there feeding windows into different times. Just my 2 sense

Where I live & fish (SETX), it’s HOT! Like REALLY hot. Like, my TAP WATER is 90°!! The bass are at the banks UNTIL the sun comes up, then they NOPE the f()ck out and head to the bottom. You can’t hit em from the banks.

If someone could be proficient in throwing jigs, it's the only bait you would ever need. In saltwater it's the bucktail.
