Regardless of how the boots were worn, pretty insane that you were able to just rip the outsole off by hand after 6 months. I would be unhappy if I could do that on a pair of $200 boots after a year of wear.

I know there is some hate here for the Alden boots, but personally I have worn the same two pairs to work (mostly office and warehouse work) every day for two years and they are holding up great. Every 6 months or so I use Venetian cream and that’s it. Maybe a brush every two weeks. At this rate I won’t need to ever buy another pair of boots/shoes for work. Just my experience.

It’s not that they will fall apart in two weeks, it’s that that same or better level of durability and comfort you’re speaking of is typical for a 200 dollar pair of boots. No one is saying they are sheets of paper, but they are not as durable for the price and the legend they carry

@@kart182 The people on this channel. I swear you all just don't get it. They are not supposed to be Whites or Red Wings, these aren't built to work boot standards and they aren't trying to be, and Alden doesn't market them as rugged work boots either. And my god is Weston such a clickbait shill. Wasn't there a video just a week or two ago about how they were done making these Alden videos.

@@Nick-ul2bp the truth is: the build quality is subpar. It’s not that they have to be built tough, but built durable. What is the part “the people on this channel” don’t get? The point is the value for money is abysmal. You can get higher quality dressy boots that aren’t like Whites or Red Wings for cheaper with better materials. Not being a work boot is not a free pass to be an overpriced one

  • @Nick-ul2bp

@@kart182 The people on this channel have traditionally been comparing them to Whites and Nicks(because of the price point), something most people who buy them don't want them to be. I'd agree they're expensive to overpriced, but they're also made in the US. There are higher quality dressy boots for cheaper, sure, but most are not made in the US. Allen Edmonds is really it, and they've been cagey about where their stuff is made lately. I think Cordovan in general is overpriced(Viberg charges $1500 for it) and this particular model is perhaps a unique case. The regular 403/405 Indys though, there isn't much out there to compare them to that's MiUSA. Oak Street doesn't make anything like them, Truman doesn't either.

Alden has plenty of shoes that use full leather and not leatherboard. Also, they're not a work boot company. They're a dress shoe company, and the cordovan shoes are not the average price. I wear work boots when I'm working/hunting, not a pair of Aldens, lol. These poor zoomer hipsters in the comments probably don't own a single sport coat or suit because they're too busy pretending to be gay bearded lumberjacks and would even wear their work boots to church...if they actually went to church.

I said it on the review of these boots (as well as many others) but bears repeating: at this price point, Alden should be ashamed at their build and materials quality when their boots are in this state in six month of normal wear. If they were being abused, sure...but give me a break. I'd rather buy a pair of Red Wings Iron Rangers; at least I know the quality isn't quite there but it'd be much easier on the wallet. Noting like getting loopy from contact cement or a kaddywhompus job regluing a sole....
