@@sandylockhart3172 I apply mine once a month during the growing season and one final time at the end of the season for winter fertilization. I use around a quarter cup (2 ounces) for a 6 in pot. Just apply evenly around the top and work into the soil as best you can while being careful of young roots and stems

Thanks, I just got my first Monstera and put it in a corner with a large west-facing window. I use worm castings for most of my plants and will start using them as you directed. It is taking to it's new space and actively growing new leaves.

I finally got my MD last year. Put it in a big plastic pot, which I put outside on the east side of my house. I happened to have a tall wrought iron trellis which I stuck into the pot. I watered it regularly and fertilized it also, and that plant started giving me large leaves with so many finest rations. Once cold weather started coming, there was no way I was going to be able to move that pot anywhere. So I decided to take as many cuttings as possible and put one to two leaves in large clear vases to root indoors. Even though the indoor lighting wasn’t very bright, I’m happy to relate that most developed more roots and are getting ready to be potted up. As for the mother plant, it remained outside protected with a layer of leaves and covered up with some tent material. When I finally uncovered it, what leaves it still had had frozen and turned brown, but the trunk is very much green. Fingers crossed that it will start sprouting out again.🤞🤞🤞🤞

@@vickykent353 Yes, it did! However, it gave me only one sprout which came out from the ground. So once again when cold weather came around, I repeated the same thing. I think, next time, I’m going to leave more nodes (but cutting off the leaves in order to leave a longer stalk in the pot) in order to see if it’ll give me more sprouts for a fuller plant.

Perfect timing Nick! I just bought a MD from Lowe's just about the time you posted this video. It's a pretty substantial size for $24.95. I had just finished your earlier video on rooting your Monstera from 2018 when this video popped up. I've warned the cats that it will eat their Pounce and Temptation treats if they more than stare at this plant! One of my clivias was moved off its stand to the front porch to make room for my new baby. Thank God it's 80 degrees here today in NC. Thanks Nick ...you're the Man! 😄

I got mine for free. Someone just abandoned a huge specimen in the lobby of my building. It looked so sad and pathetic, drooping over the sides of the basket it was in, no care was given to it. I took maybe 8 clippings and now I have 3 pots which I've taken care of for about a year. My biggest issue with them is they don't stay plump and look dehydrated. I'm scared I am going to water them too much (which I have done many times to other plants). I think I might've added too much drainage to my mix. But they're still doing good and growing at least lol

My monstera is one of my favorite house plants. It's one of the only plants my husband lets me keep in the livingroom (most are outside or in my office room haha) but he's named Goliath and it is just so fun watching him slowly unfurl a leaf! And I will say they are super Hardy. We live in Florida and he is happy as a clam to just hang out in our living room which is moderately sunny most of the day and I water him whenever I remember to haha. The big leaves just really are so much fun! One thing I will say is definitely need something to help keep him upright though. Mine was a beast until I gave him a moss pole. He doesn't really use it but its good for guiding him up the wall haha

@@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 I haven't! My plant isn't overly huge so I only really have 1 node that I could potentially use ATM above the soil, but he doesn't have roots that are big enough. To put into any water. Although I could use some damp moss and see if that will get him moving! Cuz you're right, I'm sure he'd appreciate the extra water for sure!

@@Karasaywah Ah, right. I mean, if the roots aren't quite long enough, it's probably best to wait. If feeder roots start growing at the end of the aerial roots, I'm pretty sure it caps how long the actual aerial root itself can grow. You should definitely try it when it gets large enough though, their aerial roots grow like that in order to search for other sources of nutrition aswell as attach itself to whatever it's climbing.
