How to Card Alpaca Fiber! Motorized Brother Drum Carder Tutorial!

In this video I give you detailed demonstration of how to card alpaca fiber using the extra wide, large, motorized, Brother Drum Carder! ‪@broter‬‪@brotherdrumcarder‬
Using the Brother Drum Carder has totally expedited my process as a felt maker and fiber artist! It has allowed me to continue to make the art I love and also tend to the animals on our farm.
This video will give you all the technical aspects of the carder, plus teach you how to card luxurious alpaca fiber! And remove the batts and clean the carder!

    I use a porcupine quill to lift fibres from the teeth on the drum. I believe that the doffer tool can damage both the cloth and the tines. The batt is absolutely dreamy and I love the way the colours blended. I love alpaca fibre 🥰🥰🙏🏼

    I'm a spinner and here's a tip. To remove your finished batt from the large drum, (and to clean both the drum and licker after you're finished), use a metal tined hair brush cleaning tool to loosen it as you go, and this will change your world.

    The biggest I’ve made so far are 7oz batts 😱
