    Hello @ETOE, thanks for your videos, your work is amazing. You inspired me to paint my bike from Montana GOLD can, like in one of your videos, and i was pretty satisfied with result at first, but when i started using my bike i noticed that paint was really soft, when i stripe my bike to bike rack on the car i see dents on paint from stripes, and on the top frame tube paint come off almost to the primer or carbon. (it never happened with my original paint) I put 3-4 layers of paint and let it dry 10-15 minutes between coats and let it dry completely for 2 days, after i put 2-3 layers of 2K of clear coat and let it dry for few days. Maybe i did something wrong? I did it outside and the temperature was different in different days (from 22 to 33 +-) I will appreciate your answer a lot... paint was really good, but all ruined because of softness of paint or clear coat.

    You trapped too much solvents in the paint caused by a lack of painting skills. Remove the complete paint job and start all over again with professional paints ( no spray cans) in a climate controlled environment if you want to achieve a factory like finish.

    Amazing job, fantastic finish. One question: the decals are there at the end so I assume they have a raised finish from the rest of the frame, which I find disappointing. What's the reason you didn't paint an original white layer, then mask using the vinyl, apply the paint job then removing the vinyl just for the final clear coat? Wouldn't this give a smoother finish? I'm sure you have your reasons for a professional finish!

  • @EmilyHorridge

    @EmilyHorridge

    8 ай бұрын

    I'd hazard a guess at the reason being that if you did a white layer on the black/clear coat, and then applied the chrome, intercoat-clear, candies, and then clear-coat, that's many more layers of paint above the white, so more difference in layer thickness as compared to the single white layer under the final clear. Also you could apply a final clear coat, sand it back to smooth off particularly around the logos, and re-apply.
