First of all, the spl meter should be placed upwards, towards the ceiling. Secondly, you should calibrate each speaker to reach around 75 db (for receiver's internal test tones) or 85 db (if you're using an external test tone). Finally, when calibrating the speaker levels, you must set the receiver's master volume to 0 db, if using the negative scale. That's the reference level.

Hi, to be honest, no precautions are needed at all. I get so many updates .. maybe at least once a month on my Denon x6700 - you will be fine!

@manasil20092009 not at all!! If you are worried about that, then you should hook up a generator. That's an overkill, I know, but I have done so many updates in the past. Never thought about the power going out... I could be wrong but I have never heard of that
