How to calculate the burn time of your candle and the best way to test the burn time at home for the best result!
Hi everyone! In today's video I'm sharing with you all the exact way I calculate the burn time of my candles and the one method that hasn't previously worked for me (the weight method). This video might be a little controversial, but I'm simply sharing what has worked and what hasn't worked for my burn time results 😊 If you have any questions then please leave them in the comments below!

PARTIAL BURN TEST CALCULATION:
Weigh the candle on a scale. If it is a container candle, subtract the weight of the container. This is the original weight of the candle.
Light the candle and allow it to burn until it reaches a full melt pool. Once the full melt pool has been reached, blow out the candle and allow it to cool completely. Take note of how long it took for your candle to reach a full melt pool.
Weigh the candle again, remembering to subtract the weight of the container. This is the post-burn weight.
Subtract the post-burn weight from the original weight, then divide by the number of hours burned. This number is the hourly burn rate.
To find the total number of hours the candle will burn, divide the original weight of the candle by the hourly burn rate.
-------
Wax consumed (original weight - post-burn weight) ÷ hours burnt = hourly burn rate
The original weight of candle (minus the weight of the container) ÷ hourly burn rate = approximate burn time

It's all so complicated right, but doesn't take very long considering the making side. I definitely think doing both is best, to see the difference between both methods is super useful especially in the beginning to see what seems most accurate. I'm not sure if you've mentioned it before, but are you planning to launch a brand or a hobby for now? Would be amazing if you did 😊
