    √x± y = √x ± y /2√x Use this formula, Step -1 = breakdown the number, of which we have to find the root but in a way like x is a perfect root closest to the number which we have to find root Example - if we have to find root of √7 than we can break it like X = 9 which is perfect square and closest to 7 and ,Y = 2 which we subtract from 9 to get 7 , now we put value of x and y So, √9-2 = √9 - 2/2× √9 = 3 - 2/2 × 3 = 3 - 2/6 = 16/6 Which will be = 2.66 approx ( srry for my English 😅 ) And one more thing if u will subtract x - y in root than use subtraction in formula and if u will add than use addition in formula hope it will help u 😊 One more example In √10 we can take x = 9 ( which is closest to 10 and a perfect square) and y = 1 ( which we add in 9 to get 10 ) now according to formula √10 = √9 + 1 = √9 + 1/2×√9 = 3 + 1/2 × 3 = 3 + 1/6 = 19 / 6 Which is = 3.16 approx

    A fun side note is that (a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 = a^2 + b(2a + b) so that in each iteration, the number on top is a; and b is the next digit on top to the right. 2a + b is the number on the left which is multiplied by b to get b(2a + b) which is the new number on the bottom which you subtract from the total to get the next iteration. Then, a becomes the entire number calculated this far and b is the new digit to the right on top! I know it seems confusing but when you get your head around it, it's really an elegant method and it's based on a simple algebraic expression for the sum of two numbers squared! I stayed up late tonight to figure it out and it finally makes sense as to why it works! I'm sixty nine, I learned this method in middle school and now I finally get it. Whew!

    Lots of people are saying they learnt this in 7th grade and 8th grade. I am in 7th grade and I have never come across a method to find the square root of a number. We barely did any squaring and the only ones we did, it was simple ones you know? Like the square root of 64 which is 8. In the test, however, there are questions asking the square root of complicated numbers, now because of this video, I actually understand how to do it. It was confusing at first but after a few times of replaying it, I understood. Thankyou so much

    Good video mr. Kumar! One note: did you make a small error at the 4th division? 1 becomes 24; 24 becomes 281; so....281 becomes 2824. Right?

    So if I wanted to compute the square root of three, I would do: 1 1 / 3.00 1 __________ 2? / 200 (write 7; 27 x 7 = 189 200 - 189 ===== 34? / 1100 (write 3; 343 x 3 = 1029; 1100 - 1029 = 71) So then I would double 173 to write “346?” and then divide 7100 by “346?,” and so on. Am I doing it correctly?

    There's a bit of mistake you did to find the digits after the decimal. To find each digit after the decimal you need to multiply the current result by 2 and repeat the common step again.

    Very interesting video! I remember my grand mother could find square roots with 5 digit precision within seconds with mental arithmetic only, I was mighty impressed! Always wondered how she did that.
