I needed this refresher. If you don’t use something often it can be forgotten. This example was extremely helpful and easy to understand.

This is such a convoluted way of doing it. All you need is to multiply the listed price by [TaxRate / (100 +1)] so if the tax rate is 8% it's listed price x 1.08. If the tax rate is 12% it's listed price x1.12. Or just petition your government to join the rest of the world and actually show what you pay at the till on the label

I just forgot how to do this and i have an assignment on this due soon and this was such a quick and easy way of learning. Thank you!

Bruh the UAE includes tax in the prices, you don't have to do it yourself like Americans do

Others want to find the _tax rate_ from the _final price._ Also, trying to multiply the final price by the same tax rate decimal shows up a few cents higher than the original price. I say the one step method works best; _original price_ x _1.0xx_ where _xx_ is the _tax rate_ from its decimal perspective. Do the multiplication and get the _final price._ Not only that though, but if you take the _final price_ divided by the _1.0xx_ _tax rate_ you get the _original price._ Same manners you take the _final price_ divided by the _original price_ you get the _tax rate_ This works much better if you have a calculator with a mode capable of limiting your decimals to a fixed digit amount, thus you can increase it to get a more precise _tax rate_ when doing these other functions

Buy the _Casio_ _fx_ _260_ _Solar II_ Runs like $9.64 from Walmart and gives you access to many different modes. Watch the KZread videos on the calculator. Don’t get suckered into buying a $55 graphing calculator when you can do the same permitting the mode.

Hello Mr. J hope all is well. I first want to say thank you for giving free online education. Is there a way you can calculate the original price with tax rate but get the total in one shot instead of getting the sales tax and then adding the original price?

If you use this formula you can make it a little faster though: Original Price x (1 + Tax Rate) i.e.: $75 x 1.08 = $81 You can think of it as a shortcut so you can save some time if you're gonna repeat this process over and over again.

Thanks for the video. Key: If your product or service cost for example $50, you just have to google what is the sales tax in your location for instance in New York, Queens is 8.88%. Which means that we just have to make the following: $50+8.88%= $54.44 None of this is financial advice.

Total amount / pre-tax amount. That will return a value. For example 81 / 75 = 1.08. drop off the 1 at the start and you are left with 08 or 8, so 8%

my good-for-nothing math teacher is making me do SUMMER SCHOOl and she doesn't even teach you nothing she relays on a dumb program too. For context I made an A+ throughout my whole year, I don't need any stupid summer school. "An hour a week should get all the work done" she said. For even more context my poor sister had her last year and she madeher do 5 hours of extra homework every week. LIKE WHAT She also gave her 4 freaking tests in Winter Break. And my parents just don't care enough to do anything about it. She ISN"T EVEN TEACHING US SHE IS USING AN APP my parents are getting robbed of their money. Thats what upsets me the most I have to learn Algebra on my own.

I struggle with maths. Please answer this If I buy a drink @ £2.10 with 20% VAT and it says that VAT is 35p, how comes when I put it in the calculator (2.10 x 0.2) I get 0.42 (as in 42p) and the only way I can get 35p is by lowering the price. How does this work out. I got so angry and frustrated with myself with maths and feel as though I’m stupid as I can’t work things like this out. Please answer if you can

Correct, I did not show how to multiply decimals. The point of this video was to go through the steps of how to calculate sales tax and the total cost. I did not cover how to multiply decimals by hand and go through all of those steps. That is something that can be done depending on if you are using a calculator or not. I will be doing a video next week where I calculate sales tax by hand and show every detail on how to solve these. That will be more helpful for you if that is what you are looking for.
