How to Calculate Height of Collimation (HOC) & Rise and Fall Methods for Site Engineering Surveying

Site engineering involves using various instruments and methods to prepare the construction site for the substructures or for the superstructure. A lot of tasks must be completed before other construction professionals can carry out their specific roles on that site. At times, an architect will want the land surveyor to complete their tasks before they can fully develop their own architectural plans for the project.
During the construction phase, the surveyor is usually required on site to check and ensure that both the horizontal and vertical level are accurately constructed with negligible deflections form the accurate plan.
In this video, I will walk you through how to collect field data to check for site levels using Height of Collimation method and Rise and Fall method commonly used in site engineering and surveying. In subsequent videos, we are going to understand other applications of using the Auto Level instrument on construction sites.
Video Timeline Guide:

Almost all surveying requires some calculations to reduce measurements into a more useful form for determining distance, earthwork volumes, land areas, etc. Purpose of traverse: It is a convenient, rapid method for establishing horizontal control particularly when the lines of sights are short.

    Talk to a practicing surveyor in the area, or visit the engineering survey office of your local council. If there are no national established control points, then there will be Temporal Benchmarks or some sort of recognized secondary or tertiary control networks.

    @KelvinAcademyYouTube

    Жыл бұрын

    @@isaacchiagozie9648 I ended the reduced levelling (RL) task at the same Ordinance Benchmark (OBM) [primary control point] station where I started transferring levels on the site ground. You can also start off from a Temporary Benchmark (TBM) [secondary or tertiary control point] station. If I had ended at a different station, I should be getting a value less than or greater than 0.000 in my final checks. But no matter how you ended your RL on that site, if you have carried out your levelling observations accurately, the final check should definitely be fine. I hope this helps. I will be making more videos on this and more subjects.
