It is rather. I must say I square and multiply numbers in my head as meditation. But I am rather odd.

@@tecmath Thank you for you kind reply Josh. You have chosen a form of meditation that would be a delight to teach and keep dyscalculia and innumeraxcy away. Never consider youself rather odd. It is better to meditate by squaring and multiplying numbers than sitting in front of the television and taking in useless superficially and fake news.

This is tricky. The FOIL method is all I know how to mentally do. I have to watch this ride quite a few times. My way of doing multiplication is something like this (10 + 2)(10 + 2), which is 12 times 12 = 100 + 20 + 20 +4 which now = 144. Yeah, FOIL is easy, but this little trick or tricks you do are not so easy. lol Great Wonder Josh. I could only wish I knew math like this.

more ways i can multiply this quickly for numbers thst dont meet these specific criteria? Great! I will highly appreciate these vids as Multiplication and basic arithmetic is my weak point tbh

Your comment got me thinking... The problems here can be written as... ((10a + b)(10a + (10 - b))\) Expanding this (10a + b)(10a + 10 - b) = 100a^2 + 10a(10 - b) + 10ab + b(10 - b) Now simplify 100a^2 + 100a - 10ab + 10ab + b(10 - b) and combine like terms: 100a^2 + 100a + b(10 - b) 100a^2 + 100a + b(10 - b) Which equals 100a(a + 1) + b(10 - b) Proven. Pretty cool right?

i tried this with 62*62 and i got 4204 but my calculator said 3844 does this theory not work in the 60's?

You forgot that the second digits need to add up to 10. So it works with 60s but it would have to be 62x68 for example

Better to use base 50 för numbers around that amount, unless a better method works. I am used to different bases though.
