How to Calculate Expiration Date in Excel

How to calculate the expiration date in Excel can be achieved in many ways. I chose a method that will be easier to execute since each part is broken up separately. I use an IF statement to determine if a date has expired and conditional formatting to highlight dates that are expired in red or green if they are still active.

Great spreadsheet. Very complicated for me. I have been working on one I thought would be simple but I guess not for me. I need to track employee name, and the employee document expiration dates and show if the document is active or expiring in the next 30 days.

Great video, how do i use number of years instead of number of days to calculate the expiry date?

In column D (Expiration Date) you can multiply "$C$1" by 365 and then change cell C1 to number of years. It's not going to take into account leap years though, but being off by one day may not be a big deal. Example: =B3+($C$1*365)

I'm glad you found it helpful! I use Excel 365, if the subscription isn't a problem I would go with 365, since it has all the latest features like XLOOKUP, XMATCH, and others that are only available in 365. If you have suggestions for other videos let me know!

How does it know it's days and not years? I need to add 5 years to a date and not sure how!
