How to Buy Your First Rental Property in 6 Steps

If you’re wondering how to buy your first rental property, there is arguably no better place on the internet to learn than BiggerPockets. Ashley Kehr should know, she tripled her portfolio after she found the BiggerPockets forums. But, in order for Ashley to triple her portfolio, she had to make the leap and learn how to buy her first deal. Today, she’ll teach you how to do the same, so you can reach financial freedom.
Ashley wasn’t born into a real estate family. She worked a nine-to-five job as an accountant, only to realize she hated it and later quit. She began working for a local investor and started learning the real estate management game. Ashley then partnered with the son of her boss, who provided her the capital to begin investing.
In less than a decade, Ashley was able to reach financial freedom, retire from any possibility of a regular workweek, and spend more time with her children. Now, it’s time for you to do the same!

I love you guy! We almost made a huge mistake after finally deciding on pulling the trigger. Luckily our mentors and our lender (also mentor) saved us because I neglected to listen to my wife and the math… We almost made a $300k+ mistake… I’m going all the way back to basics again… thank you for what yall do

I am 100% new to this and just taking notes and familiarizing myself with the different terms and absorbing as much knowledge as possible. One question I have, if anyone out there is kind enough to explain, Ashley mentioned joining an MLS to get those free emails. I did a google search on MLS and it mentioned that is only open to brokers and realtors? Is it something that I am missing here?

I purchased my home with an FHA loan in 2019 with home prices getting insane here in central florida I talked to my loan provider about how do I go about dropping my PMI since my loan amount was for about 150k and the homes value was at about 277k at the time of me speaking with them I figured I had enough equity in it to drop the PMI, she informed me I couldn’t without first getting out of my FHA loan and getting into a conventional loan(I have a 2.75%IR on my loan there’s no way I was refinancing), she said that with an fha loan I will always have to keep a PMI. Was she lying to me?, any help is appreciated

I can't believe nobody answered this, but yes you have to refinance out of the fha. Pmi is for the life of the fha loan, so you have to pay off or refinance out.
