Julian, by far one of the best videos you have made thus far!!! I invest in gold a little bit. I actually bought a 5 bhat bar gold two years ago for 92,500 bhat (which is 18,500 bhat per bhat). Now that gold prices has increased I want to sell it but can not because it is difficult to travel back to thailand.

I don't know about anywhere else. But in Thailand, if you sell gold the same place you brought them the price will be slightly higher than gold from different place

Gold, is always a good investment specially in this unpredictable times. If only I have the opportunity to buy more Gold here in California., I would do the same. I bought a 24Kt. Yellow Gold ring at a Chinese Jewelry Store when I was travelling to Cebu City, Philippines. This was in the mid 1990's. Back then I purchased the 24Kt. Gold for only U.S.$200.00 at that time of exchanged. The ring was quite big & heavy & very yellow. I still have the ring but I never wear it.

I would say is a fair price; current price of gold is around $55.77 per gram; you paid about $53.75 (USD) per gram. Do you know if price of diamonds (in general) are less in Thailand thank in USA?

Hey Aramis, something you must keep in mind is that gold and diamond prices have worldwide prices. The only real difference in Thailand compared to America is that gold may have a cheaper "labor" price for jewelry. So jewelry may be a little cheaper in Thailand compared to America but the gold itself is not "cheaper". If you read the book Fake by Robert Kiyosaki, he mentions that even during the Vietnam war, Vietnamese gold vendors still sold gold at worldwide price. The vendor even laughed at him when he wanted a discount.

Correct me if I am wrong, I attempted to look up the general gold value per oz during that time ($1820 USD) and multiplied it down to the baht/oz (15.244/31.3) . It seems like his pricing was about $1500 baht cheaper than my calculations for spot. Obviously my numbers are not 100% accurate but if you were to compare instantaneous values of gold in Thailand and gold in North America, how would they differ?

Gold is same price worldwide. This video was made almost 3 years ago. Anyone telling you that you can buy gold cheaper in Thailand is scamming you. The only thing that might be cheaper is gold jewelry because the cost of labor may be lower in Thailand compared to Italy or USA.

Most Thai gold jewelry is 96.5% pure, while most of the world uses 58.5% 14K or 75% 18K purity gold. Gold bars are a different story though most will be high purity for example 99.99% gold

I can agree that investing in multiple things makes for a good or safe investment, however regarding your 99.99% gold bars or coins, the main problem about Thailand's pure gold market is that Thailand does not follow global standards in making the actual bars, meaning not being certified, many firms outside thailand often do not honor those bars to buy so the value can be much less unless u travel back to the same location you bought it, to sell it.... it might be a good program for you to ask why they do not follow international rules in making, shaping, measuring and certifying.... i have always wanted to know why they dont....

How do you check the purity of the gold? I mean how to check if it is really 96.3 purity gold or not?

Most Thai gold is 96.5% which would be considered 23K I think. Most gold bars in Thailand are also 23K gold 96.5%, this is one of the only shops in Thailand that actually offers pure gold bars for sale. But of course feel free to shop around and see what the best option is

I was just in Bangkok for a week ordering some specialty items. I am returning near the end of October to pick them up. I got some great buys due to the dip in the gold price.

Time of war gold is always best plus dollars,but you can use gold anywhere in the world to get home 👍

Lol so it's 493thousand baht in total. And 1 baht of gold weighs 15.30 grams so that X 17 equals to be 260 grams of gold

Most gold in Thailand is 96.5% especially jewelry, it’s rare to see a shop in Thailand selling 99%+ gold

In California it's more expensive with taxes and labor charges.

I believe they sold you this gold at almost the same as the spot price, with little markup. This is great for the buyer, but how does the shop make enough profit to stay in business?

Gold is always a good investment. I noticed that in Thailand the units are different, I believe it could make it harder to sell it in other countries. I wonder if there are places in Thailand/Bangkok that have the international units? 🙂 Another question, are there options to buy gold in the banks?) As long as it's stamped/marked it should sell just fine. Also, if you sell to a shop & a shop has a xrf machine, they'll pay you for 23ct. It's difficult to determine 23ct with a acid test as 22ct & 23ct are very similar.

I think around $920, gold is universal price. Will be the same price everywhere in the world. Only thing that may be cheaper is cost of labor for jewelry here in Thailand compared to America or Italy

Any time you buy gold with Fiat it’s always good and it’s a way to preserve your wealth. Though you have to buy and look at the market price of gold ..

A good change in your videos Julian. Do something different. Bought gold many times in Thai but never saw the scene in behind. Keep it up.

Hey, I was thinking about that too. Silver bars are pretty hard to find in Thailand. There are some silver jewelry stores but not many bars for sale

For buying gold I always buy 24k or 999 gold.

It's a good buy due to you getting 9999 gold over 999 gold. I would have got 2 to make a troy oz gold

Considering that most farangs buy $1,000 worth of junk, beer, etc. this is probably a smart purchase

I worked in a dental laboratory that uses broken arm casting machines. Those are more dangerous than just melting gold and pouring it into a mold. Gold won't explode when melting. Yes, You're correct, safety first.

Julian, this is the best time to buy gold and silver in your lifetime. Just wait and see what happens to the price from now onward. Anyone who says or thinks that gold has reached its height has no idea what he's talking about. If nothing else we must understand gold and silver is on the opposite side of the stock, bond realestate markets pendulum. When these markets go one way gold and silver goes the opposite - what is happening in the world right now? All the markets are in a bubble and are crashing, some faster than others, just don't look at mainstream media for the truth as you'll never hear it from them. Investing in gold and silver is the best think you can possibly do with minimum risk and gold and silver have NEVER lost complete value as opposed to EVERY currency in history!
