I'm from Malaysia. And I usually get books delivered to my doorstep from a local bookstore called MPH Bookstore coz the town I live in doesn't have any bookstores. If I travel to the city, I'd usually go to Popular Bookstore, or maybe Kinokuniya.

I LOVE the Foyles up in Charring Cross. The first time I went there I almost cried, it has so much. Like it has such a wider range than Waterstones (I love you Waterstones, but I agree, they need to have a larger YA collection, especially in the smaller shops). I've never bought anything from the book people, but I reaaalllyyy want to, especially after seeing those amazing prices (and the free shipping on orders over £25 holla).

I live in Canada and I buy all my books from Chapters which is basically the Canadian version of Barnes and Nobles. Its a great bookstore but I find they have been focusing more on other items they sell and less about the actual books. Also, books in Canada are always more expensive than the American pricing which is frustrating. Loved the video! Can't wait for the next one!

I live in the US and I go to Barnes and Nobel for most of my books. I'm lucky enough to live like five minutes away from a very spacious Barnes and Nobel and I love it! I love the lay out and their selection is typically amazing! My only complaint is that they tend to be a bit pricey. I have only ever ordered a book from Amazon once (actually I didn't, my mom did for me), and I was very pleased! It was City of Heavenly Fire, and I know that a lot of people had problems getting it on time when they had pre-ordered it, but I was one of the lucky ones that woke up to a book at their door at 10am on release day. I also keep a very extensive wish list on Amazon of books and other fandom related stuff that I want on there, half for my own future referrence, half because my birthday is coming up and it is the cheapest way for my parents to buy me books.

As Amazon Pride free delivery is not available in Ireland I use Kennys.ie. They have a slow search engine :( But their prices are reasonable, the sell second hand copies as well as new and have FREE WORLDWIDE shipping (great for sending Christmas pressies to Australia). Book depository is my second favourite as the have some good prices and free shipping too. Real Life shops are Chapters Bookstore in Dublin. It's an independent store that can sell new current release Hardbacks and Mass Paperbacks for as little as five Euros and that also has a secondhand section upstairs. Also Bookstation shops - which is a chain in Ireland (is it in the Uk too?) that sells every book it has including new releases at discounted prices. However their selection is a bit small, so you have to go on a regular basis. Especially if you want to get a new release before it sells out.

I usually buy from Chapters(Coles/Indigo. All of them are the same company under different names) here in Canada. With that being said I do tend to buy most of my books from this retailer on their online store. Their online prices are much much cheaper than their in-store prices. I also sometimes buy form Costco, Walmart or Target, although they obviously have a smaller selection of books.

I'm from Singapore, an independent island-city-state-country and we have a local bookstore company called Popular that can be found islandwide they are like our version of Barnes & Noble in the US. Most of the books are in U.K. editions cause we do learn the uk English language. Other than Popular, we have another islandwide bookstore called Kinokuniya but I'm not sure if this one is local. Kinokuniya has the more outdated books so if you are late to jump on the bandwagon, I recommend you go there. We have a number of independent bookstore closer to the central district but I don't go there too often :)

I'm from France, so we have a regulation concerning the price of french books, it's the same price everywhere and it's determine by the publisher. Plus, you can order any book they don't have in stock in every bookshop here ! :) So we really have no need for Amazon or other online bookstore I think (unless you live in a ghost town). I'm pretty invest in the small communities and I like the proximity of the shops. My city is also lucky enough to have a two great english bookstores where I can buy or order my english books ! It's a little bit more pricy than amazon, but not that much, and a I say I like to know that the place I give money to pays their taxes and are more than a faceless factory. I like to talk litterature or anything with my local booksellers, they are amazing ! :)

They had box set for really cheap prices such as the 'A song of Ice and Fire' and 'The Maze Runner'. Some of the books that they sold aren't new releases, but they had really great deals. Its only in the UK I believe and they only ship to the UK too which is upsetting :(

I am from Canada. I am fortunate to work in a bookstore [looks space aged, as you so aptly put it] that has a fair sized collection of all genres (our shelves are always quite full) but situations will occur where we do not get a book on the first day of release or maybe even never (case in point i am still waiting for the new covers of the Percy Jackson series but they are still sending us old box sets :/ ). Point is its supply and demand. At the moment, Our system bases what a store receives on what orders for that particular book/ author are and what is popular right now (based on the Globe and Mail and NYT best seller lists.) Now I don't know how every book retailer works it. but possibly you local Waterstones(?) could be in a situation where there is not the demand for those YA titles and do not stock them for this reason. I'm rambling. I shop at work. I get books at the price we (as a company) buy them at which is generally a 30% off the cover price. Its Fantastic :D

I'm from Australia and I get most of my books from BookDepository as it's pretty much the cheapest store out there on the internet - books on amazon can be cheaper but once you factor in their crazy postage it's not worth it. For physical stores I buy from Dymocks (usually when they have a sale or if the author is Australian) or the Book Grocer (a discount book seller) where books are $10 each or 6 for $50. Also stores like Big W are good for some popular mainstream titles (and they are often cheaper than BookDepository!). I'll also occasionally order from Angus&Robertson's online store if they have a sale or I want the title ASAP. And to all my fellow book lovers do not discredit going to a good secondhand bookstore or charity shop as you'll often find hard to get titles or sometimes books in very good-like new condition for a fraction of the cover price. Over the course of a few months I managed to the whole Millennium trilogy (Stieg Larsson) in like new condition for $6!

I use Amazon when I want to buy a book online. It's true that if you search among different sellers you might be able to find cheaper stuff but when it comes to paying for shipping, I find the cost to be too high. For example, I was able to find a book that wasn't available in the bookstores anymore, for 5 euros which is great. But I had to pay extra (6 euros to be precise) for shipping. Sorry for my awful english by the way, I just had to tell someone about how much those high shipping prices annoy me...

I live in Norway, but i prefer reading in English, the main problem is, books are quite expensive. So I usually buy lots of books a couple of times a year through the book depository or other websites like CDON.com, or when I'm out traveling. But if I go to a stor,e I usually go to a stor called Ark, because they are the best when it comes to English books but I often have to wait a couple of weeks, or sometimes even months to get newly released books in the stores. I also check out Fretex, which is a store where ou can buy used books for a cheap price Mostly. I check out our own personal library (everyone reads in my family) before buying a new book, but it's mostly norwegian classics or books on war history.

I live in Finland and when I buy books from the internet I usually use site called Cdon.com. Sadly I cant find every book from there. And it's a shame because I like to read in English especially cause not every book get an Finnish translation. So sometimes it's hard to find some books.... And I also buy books from different bookstores.

hi I'm from Ontario canada, lots of bookstores here :) Like chapters ( has a starbucks :), can sit for hours with a book) and Coles. I personally like small time bookstores that have books stacked from floor to ceiling, there is a good one in Guelph ontario canada called Sunrise Books

I live in The Philippines and my favourites are Fully Booked and Power Books. Mostly Fully Booked because the shops usually have three floors full of books and graphic novels. I haven't tried Book Depository though but soon bc free shipping.

+xionhatesme Yes, I think the major bookstores in our country are Fully Booked, Power Books, and National Bookstores, and Booksale (I think?) otherwise, we can't really see any bookstores anywhere.

I've never bought from Barnes and noble because there isn't one nearby me, but it's the big store in the US. I mainly get books from stores like Walmart or target or small used book stores.

I live in one of the larger cities in North Carolina, and we have ONE retail bookstore. (Barnes & Noble, which is cheaper to buy from online, since their online prices compete with Amazon.) It's sad because I enjoy going in to browse at stores. I guess I am part of the problem too, because I'll go to the store, take a picture of what I want on my phone, and then order it online cheaper, lol.

I ALWAYS use the bookstores Ark and Norli. They are two amazing Norwegian bookstores, they always make me bye a book even if I'm not supposed to just because the layout in the stores and the way they represent the books is also amazing. Norli always have "the stores recommendations" in the store and sometimes the online price is cheaper than the one in the store. Here you can also make your own wishlist. On Ark they have sale on almost every book online. This can you not find in the store. This are the links too the book stores so that you can check out their online sides. They are on Norwegian but you will understand how you use it. Ark: www.ark.no/ark/ Norli: www.norli.no/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/no/norli

I'm from the netherlands, so I usually order my books online, seeing as most bookstores stock no english or a very limited amount. I usually use bol.com which get's you the new books on release day and shipping generally doesn't take too long. if I order books that have been out longer, I mostly use bookdepository, because free shipping and cheap books. I mean come on xD there are 2 english bookstores in Holland that I love dearly. one is the Waterstones, which usually does have books stocked pretty well ( I got Heir of Fire 2 days before release there :D) so maybe overseas waterstones are just awesome? idk xD but the American bookstore is my absolute favorite. they not only have a pretty big YA collection (and are cheaper then waterstones most of the time) but also a pretty massive Manga collection :D:D YAY! so yeah.. that's pretty much where I buy mah books :)

I'm from Finland! And just recently the book store where I've gotten all my books reduced its selection to like nonexistent..and the (basically only) other bookstore doesn't really have any of the books that I want to read. Also I can't find them in the libraries.. really annoying. I probably have to order all of them online then. Going to use Amazon uk maybe (though it would be nice if they could tell you the exact shipping+additional prices already when going to the basket because I'd like to know them in advance.. but still, I guess amazon is one of the cheapest. Another from where I might consider buying is Adlibris.com. I like your videos btw! :)
