How to burn out and launch at Pomona NHRA Dragstrip 2001 Pontiac Firebird WS6

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In n Out Anniversary Races launching my 2001 Pontiac Firebird WS-6. Ran a 12.42, stock bottom end, LS6 heads, LS2 Intake, long tube headers, no cats, built 4L60E with shift kit, 3200 stall converter, and 3.73 gears with a reinforced cover stock Torsen LSD. Slicks make all the difference if your strip can handle the traction.
1. Line up in the burnout box
2. Hold the brakes and roll into the throttle until the rear tires break loose.
3. Lighten your foot on the brakes to keep the front brakes engaged, this allows the rear tires to spin with minimal rear brake. If you have a line lock, hold the brakes hard.
4. Roll up to the line slowly until you activate both top yellow staging lights.
5. Once you and you competitor are lined up the tree will start.
6. Hold your brake pedal down hard and bring your RPM’s up to a minimum of 2500 or more if you have slicks. I run Hoosiers so I hold my RPM at 3500, which is the stall speed of my torque converter.
7. As the yellow lights fall release the brake when you see the last yellow light illuminate, this will have you the best reaction time. Don’t wait for the green light, the amount of time your brain takes to react and release the brake is the reason you launch on the last yellow. Below .100 is the goal, this launch was .63.
