My takeaways: 1. if a bulb is 2in high, plant it 4in below the ground (ie base of bulb is 6in below ground) 2. consider using bulb start (I never knew this existed) 3. don't cut back any of the withered stems when flowering stops. Many thanks!

Do I need to water the soil after planting?

can I plant a bulb if there was no root in it?

Will bone meal be ok to sprinkle in the holes?

Hi Nathan, bone meal is good for root development but it won't help encourage your bulbs to flower
