    These posts eventually rot out in the ground, especially if you get a lot of rain. If you burn/scorch the bottoms of the posts, before you put them in the concrete, this helps preserve the wood. It's a process called 'Shou Sugi Ban', the Japanese have been doing for centuries. It can make the wood last 100 years without treatment.

    Or you just pour the concrete without the posts, but with post brackets that have a 1" standoff. Or they make sleeves that go over the posts and protect them that way. Pole structures are made all 3 ways but they don't burn the bottoms, probably because it's not as professional. Posts aren't going to rot out in the concrete in a few years or anything like that, though, it takes decades.

    This was awesome. A suggestion that would require a little more planning up front maybe but would be less expensive and stronger is rather than using flanges and having to thread pipes... get a bit that will dril 1 1/4 holes...drill a blind hole in one post,a thorugh hole in the other... once everything is set up right run the pipe through the through hole and into the blind hole and then use a 1 1/4 dowel to plug the through hole gluing it in to hold the pipe. This would save quite a bit of dough in flanges, the bit isn't going to be terribly cheap but it can be used for other projects, the holes will be enormously stronger than flanges and you won't have to worry about your screws eventually rotting and a flange failing.

  • @rajibinus

    @rajibinus

    That's a great advise. Do you have a video that shows drilling a hole through the wood and then covering the rear end of the metal pipe ?

  • @whitemiata

    @whitemiata

    4 жыл бұрын

    Rajib Banerjee I don’t have a video. The drilling is straightforward with a drill press, drill guide or just good drilling skill. Making the plug is straightforward if you can get your hands on a dowel of the right thickness. Just cut a piece longer than you need... glue it in... surface cut it near plane and then sand it

    This will fit in a normal backyard. I have one in my neighborhood. Small gated community. Just ignore all the space around the bars. Also, you only need one or two pull up bars and you can customize your set up based on need and space requirements. Even 1 bar is fine you know.

    This is just gorgeous, BUT it would rot after 2-4 years where I live. XD I suggest to use impact sleeves (is this how it's called in english? That's what google translate told me. XD). You know, those metal things you put into the ground and screw the wood to. :) I'll definitely build something like yours in my backyard. I need to regain my health and loose several kilos. When I was a child I did ballet and could do handstand in the rings just at the first try and jumped 1,30m high when I was only about 1,50m...and now there is nothing left but excess weight and sore knees. Enough is enough...I quit my job and my first priority is my health now. :) Really can't wait to build something like this for me. :D

    Instead of measuring from center to center its alot easier to measure from same side to same side.

    Great video👍 those 6x6x12's are special order at the lowes and home depot out here. Im only putting up a pull-up bar for muscle ups no transfers. Do you think the 4x6x10s would work instead of 6x6x10s? Thanks

    Hey guys great video. In the video he mentioned how high to put the pull up bars and dip bars but not the distance between posts. In other words, how long are the dip bars and how wide are the pull up bars? Any reasons for these specific lengths? Thanks!!

  • @imuscleup

    @imuscleup

    There are specific lengths. Too short it doesn’t give you room to do many tricks. Too long, it bends and can mess up your set up due to permanent bend. The thickness of pipe also matters. We go over all of that in home depot.

    We pull out the tape measure from center to center to measure gap for dip bars. Thats how far the bars are apart. Its included later in the bar build as well. Typically with the pull up bar though. 6 ft is as long as you want to go.

    @@imuscleup Thanks for the info on the length of the pull up bar. I watched the video again and he does mention to cut the pull up bar in half but doesn't mention the length of the dip bars. He does say how far apart (width center to center) to put the 3 dip bars and that the bars will have to be cut and re-threaded but not how long they should be or what length to cut them down down to. If you could pass on the length of the dip bars, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!!

    Did you build all of it by yourselves? (The iMuscleUp compound) If so can you tell us what you used and how you made the rest of it? I know this might be a lot of work, but I'm thinking of making something like the bigger park for my community. (The one with black posts and yellow bars.) Once this whole COVID-19 situation dies down of course. Also, do you have to weld or could you thread it on the other side then screw it into the flanges? I always thought that a welded point is a weak point. I know this may be a long question but I really like to do my research before building something. Keep making good content like this!

    We did build it all ourselves. Welds are stronger than flanges. Flanges tend to rust. We will be making a new build video soon at Zachs new house. Definitely within next 6 months.
