HOW TO BUILD Wickey Smart Coast - DIY REVIEW/INSTRUCTIONS Self Building Kids Wooden Playhouse Resort

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Watch as I construct our Wickey Smart Coast Wooden Play Set consisting of a BIG wooden children’s playhouse fixed on top of a platform, two swings, a slide, and a climbing frame / balcony area with Pirate Ship wheel. This is a visual build instructions guide and my review on building a wooden playhouse set DIY single-handed from Wickey, how long it takes to build, is it easy to build a wooden playhouse set like this with one person, what quality is the wood like that comes with it, and would I recommend getting one of these big wooden play sets for your own garden?
You can get the Smart Coast / Resort from Wickey, just search online for their site. It comes with very comprehensive build instructions, drawings, and plenty of screws and bolts! You should allow a good few days to build it and finish it off properly though, it’s fairly complicated but if you follow the guide and don’t cut any corners you should be fine.

Excellent - Thanks. I got my kids the Tree playhouse, but now thinking of adding the swings and swing bars to it. Would you be kind enough to share the measurement of the 2 diagonal bars (at the far end of the swing) and the horizontal swing bar. Many thanks

Great video. How is it three years on? Looking at purchasing one any day now but just doing a little research here and some people are really criticising the quality of the materials and hardwear. Looking for something solid that will last years and years! Cheers!

Hi! Thanks for the great video! I have an only question - what is the size of original package? I think that no wood must exceed 250 cm I am asking because I'd like to know if it is possible to transport this great playhouse in a typical car.

You'll probably only need to smooth off the edges of the planks, that's all I found was necessary and a sander made easy work of it. The wood supplied with ours was generally very good quality.

We haven't anchored ours yet as it seems to weigh the same as a cathedral so I don't think it's going anywhere, but there may be something in the instructions recommending some form of anchoring just to be extra safe.

@@AbuZak14 we bought one last week, should arrive shortly. I will absolutely anchor mine in, 100%. Its not only a question of the kids knocking it over, but wind during storms is surprisingly powerful, things you never imagined can occur in stormy weather, lastly for overall stability when kids are playing, to avoid wobble or any form of movement over time from its intended location. Especially the swing set, can create area of movement with swinging. Do it once do it right. I suppose it’s a question of how safe you feel it all is, in this vid the back yard looks well shielded from wind, i dont know, I’m an engineer its maybe that side of me that cant allow me to overlook this part... meh.

@@jamesulbot a good few manufacturers, we have built hundreds of Wickey and Fatmoose sets, always seems they rock, twist and swing breaks. As you see in the video the top of the A frame on the swing is literally 1 lag screw and then attaches to the main leg without any support to stop it twisting. Then the gaps with ladders and slide Ia just 55cm or less for kids to climb out of and that vinyl is hideous

It is possible to reposition the swings but you will need to consider weight distribution. We have our swingset positioned to the back and it's fine. Might be installing additional diagonal braces to the underside of the main platform.
