You hit the nail on the head in the monologue, people throw a fortune building up stock blocks with forged parts and anything can let loose in one. Best to save the $ and spend it elsewhere

Personally I like the LC9s. Those aluminum 6.2s rip and they're generally cheaper and easier to find than an LS3.

I've personally gotten more than 100 passes no ring gap lq4 6.0 30+ psi. My friends and I don't even touch that. New bearings cam bearings as well big cam and fucking send it. Blow it and hit up junk yard do it again.

If you take some time to review Richard holdner's Dyno videos you will find the Holley hi ram is worse than the stock LS3 intake, and the 08+ 6.0/6.2 truck intakes.

L33 comes with 799 heads also. L33 is the best gen 3 engine gm made.

L33 and LH6 and essentially the same engine, I think I mentioned the L33 as another option in the video.

Do you have to rip the heads off to put on head studs?

Technically, no. But I would always chase the threads before putting new studs or bolts in.

As I understand your build, you plan to add turbos to the engine. Good heads, good cam assembly, etc. However, you make no mention of adding clearance to the rings. Without additional clearance, the addition of boost or nitros will create added expansion of the rings and destroy pistons. If the boost is minimal, less than 10 PSI, you can usually get away without added clearance. Face it, you will always want more boost. Building as you have is asking for trouble as we always want more power. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Solid point. I assume you haven't seen any of my other videos. The engine is going in my RX7 FD which has been swapped with a turbo LS setup for quite a few years. I didn't gap the rings because it'll stay under 15 psi which is perfectly safe. I've had the old engine over 20 psi and just don't really plan to push it that far again.

Reason being is while I do like your low $$ approach I would go just a bit further with a bottom end check, new cam bearings, main bearings, rod bearings, ARP main bolts, and of course ring gap for boost IMHO for peace of mind. I enjoyed the vid otherwise and will be watching your past and future vids. Thanks

The whole ring gap thing is such bullshit, I’m sure some truth stands behind it, BUT, I’ve had my bone stock 5.3 stock cam making 700 to the tire on c16 26lbs of boost for 6 years and it’s still going so shove your ring gap 🤣🤣🤣 500$ engine gonna spent more putting it back together on gaskets ffs

More like, when your doing an LS junk yard deal, don’t even look in there, just stuff the new cam in and pray for the best..

Good question. I snagged the longblock for $200 which is ridiculously cheap. Past that I spent probably $1100 on parts.

Do your self a favor and always soak your lifters in oil
